Has anyone ever sidecarred this bed before?  It's not the Gulliver crib, but the Gulliver children's bed:

My son is outgrowing his sidecarred crib and we're expecting a new baby.  I was thinking of just buying a twin bed and pushing it up on the other side of our bed, but a twin bed is about 5 inches too long for our space.  The ikea bed is shorter than a twin.  It doesn't look that comfortable, though, and I'm not sure how it would work as a sidecar.  Any ideas would help!  We've also thought of buying a custom sized twin mattress to fit in our space but I don't know if we need to go there yet!  Thanks!!!
