So, I have this idea and I'm wondering if it could possibly work. My 3 year old hasn't napped for over a year, and she's always been opposed to daytime sleep. She now sleeps from about 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m, and we're pretty content.

BUT with summer coming up, I would love to maximize out cooler morning and evening outdoor time by pushing her bedtime back a few hours, keeping her wake up the same, and napping a few hours midday. Is it just ridiculous to try to mess with a kid's sleep schedule this way?

I don't know, honestly.  Can you try a family siesta/quiet afternoon time where you pitch it to her as a special thing for summer?

I wouldn't mess with it. When they form a certain habit, it usually causes a lot of grief to try and change it.
