How does he/she sleep?  Does anyone have a toddler who gets worn down to sleep and then sleeps through the night?

My son isn't yet a toddler (almost 11 months) but I've tried wearing him down.  While I find that it does make him much more relaxed and ready for sleep, it hasn't done anything to help him sleep through the night.  About the best he'll do is a 6 hour stretch (when he wakes up we just bring him from his crib into our bed.)  After that he'll usually want to nurse one or two more times in the night, but it's never a full wake up.  Good luck!

I wore my son down last night in a backpack instead of letting him  have his usual bottle of milk (w/xylitol for tooth protection)... I saw marked improvement in night wakings.  Dr. Sears talks about varying the way you put them to sleep; I'm going to continue to do this.  The night before last, I tried to put him to sleep with just books and cuddling, but that didn't work at all.

I think a 6 hour stretch is really great for an 11 month old who is not left to cry it out.   Good job!
