How's that for a title?

We have a mattress as described above, and expecting a second child. I think I would prefer my newborn not to sleep on it.

I've considered a side-car style co-sleeper but was wondering if there might be other solutions that could keep the baby in the bed with us.

Does anyone know if there are sleeping pad type products that you can place on top of the mattress?

TIA,

Erin

Well, how about a waterproof padded matress cover and a Snuggle Nest? I would guess that if the pad keeps wetness off the matress, it would keep anything from the matress going through as well. We have a waterproof padded matress cover now and when we bought the bed, we had a wool matress pad.

I don't know if this helps or not.

I really liked it. Ds was born 5 weeks early and was so little and I felt safer having him in there right between our pillows. He slept hard for the first few weeks and would have slept all through the night if I would have let him, so I could be super close to him and still not be paranoid about covering him in my sleep.
