My oldest DS is learning how to write in cursive right now. The funny thing is, he writes better in cursive than printing. He has also decided that DS #2 should learn too. DS #2 is not only learning how to print nicely (he's been writing since he was 3) but he is learning cursive right alongside his brother. DS #1 loves teaching new things to DS #2.

Both boys are big into science right now. There are some new science kits in their future.

Loving Mom to DS (7) and DS (5).

This is DS's latest charming trick:

This was filmed several weeks ago, before he had it down pat. Now, it's a lot smoother. But this version is just cute.

That's amazing. He's adorable, looking up from the book right at you as he keeps saying the lines. A very engaging young reader!

My mom read DD TNBC and DD keeps asking "cause why?" about the "nothing to dread" bit. I think she's wondering why someone would worry about Santa in the first place... she's my anxious girl!

DD got a ton of books for xmas and late in the day she was opening up some from a distant great great aunt in front of the whole clan, and flipped to a page and read the whole sentence aloud. My mom said, "Oh, she has seen this book at the bookstore?" And looked up to see me open-mouthed. "NO!" was all I had. My brother and sister keep laughing at me and DH about how funny it was. But it's kind of nice to have it all out in the open, and not worry that anyone thinks we're just overly-adoring parents when we have to speak up for DD (like when people try to do things for her that she wants to do on her own, or babytalk to her, which confuses her).

Just for the record, he's a memorizer, not a reader (yet!).

It's the "that's amazing" reaction that made me post it here. Another "you mean that's not normal?" reality check. I put this up on facebook as a "Christmas Greeting from DS", and all my friends were in awe. I was surprised. I thought it was totally normal for kids his age to memorize books. Maybe not so quickly or so well, but they acted like they'd never seen anything like it. It wasn't meant to be braggy, just a cute Christmas thing. Oops.

I know exactly what you mean, and you should get to share about your kid w/o worrying about it being perceived as bragging. I honestly couldn't tell if he was reading or reciting, but either way! Very cute delivery.
