OK, technically it's still 9/23, but I have an important announcement that couldn't wait.

I am seriously thinking of giving up on wearing underwear. I went out and bought new ones, a size bigger, and the elastic is STILL bugging the crap out of me.

I already gave up on underwear. They just aren't comfy for me, especially now. So I say to your announcement!

I wear undies to work but not at home. My pants are getting tight so I wear the same comfy ones everyday. The maternity pants I do have are too big and I don't have anyshirts to cover the band. Getting annoying! I wonder how this week will be?

I am finally feeling better, just went horseback riding with my mom on a perfect MT fall day. Isn't today the Autumnal Equinox? It was gorgeous! My mom said, " this is a day you will always remember. What a wonderful memory for after I die." Not that we foresee that anytime soon. I hope!

I need some kind of convincing argument for my dad, who is a Dr. about homebirth! My mom is for it, but she told me today he thinks it is quackery! Ai-yi-yi! We were talking today about the Mothering Article on Homebirthing in Chicago and she was amazed at the statistics! Me too actually. So I asked if she wanted to go to the homebirhting class coming up and she thought I should ask my dad. I am just afraid of what he would say there. And she thought I should ask him to be part of the homebirth, I don't know about that. He was there for DS in the hospital and that went fine. But it will be a different story at home. Have any of you read Babycatcher by Peggy Vincent? She tells of a mama whose dad was a Dr. and always trying to take over the birth. I can see that happening.

Now I am going to try to upload my first belly pic.

I am sooooo tired! Can we hurry up and get past all this so I can really start to enjoy this pg?

In other areas I have been cleaning up a storm! I know I am pg cause the mess and clutter is driving me up the wall, and I have dh home to help fix it!

MonTana Mama, I hope that everything goes ok when you tell your dad about your desire for a homebirth.

Just got my first maternity pants today, maybe I'll grow too big to even wear them and have to get another size up, but WOW are they comfy on my nauseous and swollen belly! I'm soooo happy. I say go for it if you don't want to wear underwear, though I am in the same boat as UltimateSerj in that department.
Montanamama- I read Babycatcher and thought of that story about the blankets in the oven as soon as I read your post. As I remember it was alright in the end that he was present, and Peggy seemed more annoyed by the dad than the mother actually giving birth. In any case, best wishes that you'll come up with the best answer for you.

I have decided I want a homebirth too!

I am soooo excited now that I"ve made up my mind but my family and my inlaws are VERY upset about it. My father in law said "I wouldn't do that" and I said "luckily you are never going to give birth"

Things were tense for a moment or two, but oh well. Why does everybody around me seem to enjoy pissing on my parade?

I am still nauseous all day, and tired. I am sleeping when I can, we have 2 mamas ready to give birth. It is such an honor to be with them when their babies are born.

I will need to order some maternity clothes this time, because now I am working outside the home part time (in my midwife's office~we have a chiropractor, accupuncturist, massage therapist and homeopath). It is fairly casual, but not quite my usual jeans and t-shirt. Birks ARE approrpiate office atire though! lol

I am going on food jags now....for a while it was chicken, now it is fresh veggies. I can stand anything fried or heavy. And water tastes AWFUL!! It leaves the worst taste in my mouth, YUCK!

Okay, I need to go eat. Oh, my midwife (the one I apprentice with, who will also be at my birth )is also an accomplished photographer, so I will be asking her to do my weekly belly shots.

So, my midwife will be at my birth, but she really won't be doing anything. She was at my last birth, (my birth story is here http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=160091), and the reason she was there was for my dh. I wanted a UC, but he had reservations (actually, another long story). She was there in case the baby needed rescusitation or if I hemorrhaged. I have complete faith that she will allow things to happen and not tried to do anything that I don't want.

I have a scar on the right side of my belly from where they took out one of my ovaries last February. It itches like mad and I wake up scratching at it, and then I sometimes think I'm going to rip it right open. I have upped my flax intake, and I'm rubbing vitamin E oil onto it in hope of relief.

Yeah, about those undies.... The Bradley book Husband Coached Childbirth suggests that women who don't wear undies during pregnancy have a lower incidence of episiomities than women who do wear undies. Apparently going commando will help to toughen up your perinium. Anyone heard anything similar?

My undies are killing me too. I want to go commando, but I have way too much going on down there to do that, especially here at work. I just go pantie-less at home.

WanderingGypsy and MonTana Mama-YAY on your decision to go homebirth! I'm passionate about homebirth and love to see new mommies come on over!

There is tons and tons of information and statistics speaking of how wonderful and safe homebirth is. Really, an overwhelming wealth of info. I'm sure you can find tons of it on this site. It was my midwife that gave me all my info, so I don't have any resources for you.

I guess the only advice I can give you is to be willing to share your information with the people that may be concerned over your choice, but really, the main point is to educate yourself because you and your child are the most important part of this equation. If your partners are willing to learn also, then GREAT! But don't get stressed if you can't convince everyone. When I was 19 and pregnant with my first, I was really stressed about convincing people that I was educated about my decision and knew what I was doing. The naysayers can be difficult, but brush 'em off. Let them know that you appreciate their concern and would love their support. The next time around, I got the occasional, "So, you doing this at home again?" This time, though, it's just a given and people ask if I'm doing it at my house or my mom's. (First two were born in my mom's house.)

mmmmKay, I'll stop rambling now.

I am a no undies kind of gal. I actually feel drier even though I too have some "moistness" all the time. It seems to dissapate easier than if it is caught in my undies, TMI, whatever.
I actually struggle with the yeastie beasties occasionally, more so in pregnancy, and going commando helps this. In fact, dd had a bit of a red rashy a couple weeks ago (humid and 100 degrees here in TX a while ago...) and she told me she would go undie free like Mama does. LOL (She is 5 btw.) It helped her, too! She was better in a day or two.

Haahahaha, we often have HOIYU days at our house in the summer, mostly DH and the kids..... Hang Out In Your Underwear. Then they're all pants-free instead of undie-free. I'm sure that my skids mother is just HORRIFIED by it all.

I wish I could forego the undies but I feel more comfy with them on - oddly enough. I am somewhat getting back to myself. My house is slowly getting back in order and I do not have as much nausea although I do still have it.

A lady at school, who knows I am pregnant, told me today that my belly is starting to pooch. Of course, people are going to think I am rapidly gaining weight for a little while. I don't plan on making a big announcement to my collegues. It really doesn't affect them. If they ask, I'll answer. Everyone is so much younger than I am and they are not even near thinking of families. Here I have been pregnant and had them in class before and they are going to think I am crazy for doing it again. Personally, I don't care. I am at a completely different stage. I just hate the way they gossip. It is ridiculous how they talk about people and each other. I can hardly stand it.

Well, ds is having a fit of some sort. I am taking him for a walk.

My mom is a nurse and I opted not to have her at our first hb because I was afraid she would try to take over too! Or at the very least, she would have had a hard time keeping quiet. Anyway, it was a tough decision, so I know how you feel. Now that she's met the mw's and our last birth was smooth as silk, I think she would be okay this time...good luck!

Ohhh I am feeling irritated. The darn college of midwives won't return my calls. It's like there's NEVER anybody there! I am calling them to inquire about my midwife's history, as she is very new in the area and I know nothing about her. But nobody is answering, and I am taking flak from all sides anyways about my decision to use a midwife and do a homebirth, and in light of all that flak I feel that I just want to cover my bases.

Grr..

Anyways, supper's done, dishwasher's loaded. I'm going to take the kids for a walk to get rid of some tension.

I just bought some gap jeans with the roll-down panel (with a pretty brown floral pattern) and I AM IN LOVE. I think I have convinced most of the non-pregnant women around here to buy some just to wear for comfort or Thanksgiving dinner ;-).

as for underwear, I had to upgrade to a bigger size last week. I was down to like, less than a week's worth that was comfy around the waistline. I can't believe I went this long without getting bigger ones! I'm sure the maternity undies are a good buy, but for now, the low rise normal ones in a bigger size are doing the trick.

In other news, I had my first Feel Great All Day day on Saturday. It was unbelievable! I ate whatever I wanted! We went hiking! I stayed out to 3 at my high school reunion! But then Sunday came and it was back to (miserable) normal. Monday and this morning were particularly tough. Turns out Saturday was just a teaser. rrr.

That is all.

I had some bleeding over the weekend, so I saw a midwife at my OB's office Monday morning. They did an ultrasound, and I got to see the baby! It is fine. The baby was moving around so much!

The practice recommended the unisom/b6 combo and IT IS WORKING!!! I wasn't sick yesterday or today at all! Compared to vomiting 5x on Monday, that is incredible.

I bought myself some new undies and I had not even WORN this one pair yet and my dog chewed it up to bits. It's completely mangled. I was so mad! My dog is not normally an undies chomper so I don't know what got into her.

Thankfully with feeling so much better, I am able to get things done around here. I cleaned my house all day yesterday and it's almost not embarassing anymore, lol.

Can't wait to hear about your app't velvet. My next one isn't until the 10th.

Claire and Ellysia both slept through the night. And my bladder didn't even get me up! Oh I'm a happy mama this morning! I'll be sad mama when I can't sleep on my stomach anymore. I need to go get a body pillow. DH has mine from last time and he won't give it back.

My friend has loaned me her body pillow. I am excited about it. I needed it last time but used multiple pillows instead
Lucky you not having to get up to pee. I have such a hard time with this because ds will be nursing (comforting himself more than anything) and get so upset when I have to go pee. Dh has to hold his leg so he doesn't roll onto the floor in anger. Sometimes, I just hold it and hold it. Then when I do go - I go and go and go.
