Thanks everyone! Y'all are so nice!
His name has been decided: Alden! He's an Alden!
The short birth story version:
-stretch and sweep Thursday and Sunday at my insistence
-cramping Thursday to Saturday night
-early labour Sunday night overnight
-active labour 730am
-had to keep moving to keep contractions regular
-contractions were all VERY long (all at least 90 seconds and *strong*)
-lots of cervical pain and back bone pain, esp as he was moving down
-baby went from LOA to ROT to direct OP to OA (I have a huge pelvis)
-baby was deflexed and big bag of waters
-didn't make much progress for 4-5 hours, stuck at 7cm (started at 5cm after the stretch and sweep)
-I let myself have a big cry and shared my feelings of fear and worry with my support people and that really helped, and reminded myself of all the women who would be thrilled to be pregnant, nevermind in labour. That all helped my frame of mind, as did massage which felt like tactic love.
-I asked for my waters to be broken when nothing else was working
-my membranes were like iron (lots of essential fatty acids in pregnancy!)
-I checked my own cervix in labour and held back my own cervical lip while pushing (I am a take-charge kinda girl)
-started pushing 45 minutes after the AROM and was so thrilled that they baby *really* was going to come out
-I enjoyed massage, music, candles going, incense and lots of labour love from my support people
-4 minute second stage that was so intense, so painful, but mercifully short
-caught by Daddy
-shoulders born in the transverse!! (prolly saved my perineum which really couldn't have handled more trauma after the previous births)
-baby with Apgars of 9/10
-I didn't bleed too much after the birth (I had a life-threatening PPH with my frst - missed a hysterectomy by a hair's breadth)
-born in the water in a La Bassine tub
-my son cut the cord
-my daughter announced the sex (a total surprise)
-placenta birthed in the tub
-got up and into bed under my own steam just a few minutes after bed and felt great. My dp told me I looked fantastic, esp. compared to my other births
-baby nursed within a few minutes of birth and was so alert!
-midwives/friends went home at 2 hours cause there was nothing to do!
-I examined the baby myself, and asked for very minimal exams of me and the baby - mostly just observation
-baby weighed by Daddy!
-we did the vitamin K shot, but not the eye ointment. I gave him the shot myself as I figured that if I was wanting him to have it I should have the ovaries to not make someone else do it
-As a big woman i didn't want to gain much body mass. I weighed myself today at 24 hours (I don't usually recommend that) and I am 3 pounds over pre-preg weight which pleases me. I have been eating really well and I am so glad that I won't have a ton to take off.
Anyways that is it. I intend to write up the full version shortly and post a picture tomorrow!
I have felt pretty fantastic! I am totally enjoying snuggling this boy!
He is amazing: 4 poops 4 pees first 24 hours. I have so much colostrum that he is GULPING at the breast! His last two poops were no longer even meconium (at 28 hours old!) and were fully breastfed poop! He is quite gassy (I don't think his system was totally ready for so much action already) and he is quite mucousy from his fast birth. He is super cuddly and alert. We are co-sleeping, no circ, babymooning over here, and it is wonderful! My daughter, age 7, keeps saying, "You are lucky". How right she is.
