I am looking to expose my children to the pox.  I know of a child at my son's school that has them.  Is it inappropriate for me to email the mom of this child (I know her somewhat, I've spoken with her a few times) and ask if she is willing to have a playdate with us?  Or should I just cross my fingers that it ends up spreading around the school a bit?

Do you have any clue about whether or not her child was vaxed? If he wasn't, I would say email away. If he was vaxed and still contracted cp... which apparently happens... I would be more wary of asking.

I'm not sure about that, which is why I'm hesitant.  It is a small, private school that he goes to.  I'm thinking that there is probably a relatively high percentage of unvaxed kids there, given the type of crowd that goes there.  But, I'm totally unsure if this particular family vaxes or not.

I guess I would say to go for it... you could word it in a way that you were waiting a while to see if your DS would get cp naturally before getting the vax... word it someway to make it seem like you are not totally anti-vax (not sure if you are non/sel?), but in case she is very pro-vax and he caught it even vaccinated... yk? Most moms had cp naturally back when, and/or went to pox parties themselves.
