Hello! My daughter is 20 months, we are doing a lot of the vaccines on a spread out schedule and with our old doctor we did dTap on a separate visit than Hib and prevnar. We moved in between the last HIb/Pc shot visit with our old doctor (a few weeks away from 18 months, we were behind on that) and then we went to the new doctor for what would have been the 18 month dtap dose about a month later. The doctor convinced me to do a polio dose along with it, he said it was a combo of dtap and IPV - I couldn't remember having read about that, and hadn't planned on doing any combos but in the moment it seemed ok to do it and save her a needle for IPV, which we were planning to get eventually anyway, and they don't have dtap alone for some reason.
I found out yesterday that it was NOT just those two, it was Pentacel which has HIB as well - I was so angry that they didn't tell me and they said ohh it's fine they can have extra doses and it doesn't matter. I also feel guilty but it didn't occur to me to say "are you sure there are no other vaccines hiding in there?" The doctor had also been pushing Hep B that day but I said I didn't want three at once and we'd do it eventually.
That was a long explanation just because I feel bad and worried, but my question is- is that actually safe to have had more HIB shots than needed, and just a month apart from the last one? They had her record and knew she'd done it. Has that happened to anyone else?
