I need your advice and suggestions from those that have used religious exemptions currently or in the past. We have selectively vaccinated in the past but have decided to stop. Our LO had a reaction and after many prayers, tons of research and basically listening to my instincts we don't feel comfortable continuing. Unfortunately philosophical exemption isn't an option in our state but since my personal faith and conscience is keeping me from continuing I feel that religious exemption applies.
Does anyone have a sample letter that they have used without question that you could share with me? I'm so confused. I've been researching this and have read that it's best not to state too much information and also read that details need to be included (as to why against vaccination). Not sure which information is correct. Has anyone filed after vaccinating their child and if so, was your exemption questioned because of this? Do you need to disclose past vaccination history?
We're looking into private vs. public schools. Has anyone had any problems trying to file an exemption with a Catholic school in particular? Also, when did you bring up the exemption? Did you contact the school beforehand or just file the exemption with the registration paperwork? I'm really not sure what to do because many of the schools I've been researching have a registration deadline and I'm sort of concerned about waiting to register yet am hesitant about calling before hand to find out!
Sorry for all of the questions. I'd really appreciate any advice.
