My son had his first vaccine series DTaP at age five and now at age six he's had two hepB shots.  Ever since the hepB shots, he's been whisper repeating what he says.  Connection?

I had palilalia myself through much of my childhood and adolescence.  I was vaxed on schedule, and it is also possible that I had an increase in palilalia after shots too.  Now most of the time I can prevent myself from repeating and just say it in my head.

Huh.  Is palilalia related to echolia?  It sounds like it is.

What do you think?

I have never heard of it before, but googled it and read the wiki entry. What stood out for me was the first case was described by Alexandre-Achille Souques in a stroke patient. This brought to mind the work of the late Andrew Mouldon who described vaccine damage as mini strokes.

It appears Palilalia is present in a variety of neurodegenerative disorders such as Tourettes, Alzheimer's and something called progressive supranuclear palsy. As I believe vaccines do cause neurological damage, then I would say, it is highly likely this could be a result of vaccination.

I do not think you should blame yourself or even the vaccines, easy as it may be. It sounds genetic to me. I am so glad you understand it and can help him learn to cope with it. Hugs smile.gif

Wow, interesting. I do this, and never knew it had a name.

While not trying to claim an association, it was first pointed out to me within about a year of an MMR booster (can't remember if it was a few months after, or the year after that). Which is obviously extremely weak evidence either way, as that was just the first time I realized I was doing it, and it could have been happening my whole life, or since any other previous vaccination, illness, birth injury, whatever.

I agree. It very well could be a genetic predisposition to a certain kind of vaccine induced brain damage.

Yeah, it seems a weak connection, if any.  And he only does it a few times a day.  Most of what he says he doesn't repeat.
