I like Sayra!
By the way about Aidan being the most popular name... my name is Aidan. Yep. And I'm a woman. I totally deny that it's a male name, although I know it's origins and that it was intended for males. It seems feminine to me, as I've had it my whole life. And besides, it's Nadia spelled backwards.

I don't purposely like the common names, I guess I just fall in with the rest of the majority and like them regardless of their popularity! I kind of wish I liked the more uncommon ones though...well, I dh would need to like them too.

We talk about names even when not TTC or pregnant. But now that it's actually time to think of and decide on names, we're drawing blanks!

But we did get Talia for a girl (or maybe Tahlia). We're pretty firm on that. No idea of middle name yet though.

Boy, probably Noah or Elijah.

Some other names I like for first or middle names:

Boy:
Shay (LOVE this one but dh not so much)
Aidan
Ari
Joshua (middle name only)

Girl:
Zoe
Avery
Rachael (middle name only)
Gabriella
Claire (middle name only)
Isabelle

Here are names that dh didn't like or even though I like them, I wouldn't use them for one reason or another (bad association, etc.)

Phineas
Savannah
Phoenix
Maximus

We have had the names of our next kid picked out for ages but DH says I'm not allowed to share. But it will be very unusual! We also don't go in for "normal" names. Just pronouncable (somewhat) ones!

Okay, for a boy the first name would be Eric (after my father who passed away when I was 9yo). The middle name we are stuck on. 3 generations of dh's family have had the middle name "Allan". I'd prefer to ditch that name and go with "Anthony" (my uncle who died of AIDS...my father's brother). I also really like the idea of giving him my maiden name as his middle name (Anderson) So, here's the list:

Boy:
Eric Anthony/Allan/Anderson

Girl:
Lily
Julia
Presley
Debbie (my mom *really* wants this, its her name)
Dulcinea (my best friend *really* wants this, its her name)

In all honesty, I'm not too keen about any girl names right now. Dh and I have agreed that if this baby is a girl we'll come up with a list of names we like and let our family vote at the baby shower. I think it'll be fun

My name is Shay! I've never met one older than me and I have only met a handful in my time- about half girls and half boys. I have loved having this name. I met a Chey they other day and she said it was long for Cheylynn.

DH just told me that he found a boy name that he really, really likes... Gage. I like it, too. So if it's a boy, his name will be Gage something. Still have no idea for a girl.

Jenn, future midwife, mama to 2 sweet girls (6/05) and (5/07).

We need to find a name that works for our german, french and dutch heritage (mostly my german though!)
Here we are so far:
for a girl: Leonie (a german name)
Nanna (another old german name)
Josephine (although I don't like Josie)
for a boy:Finn
Malachi
Wolfgang (that might be a little too way out, though)
This is definitely fun!

So weird. I was thinking Noah Elijah for my first. I also really do like Phoenix, but I think people would look at me cross eyed for that one. Besides, it doesn't really go well with my last name.

We officially have boy and girl names!
Nesta Otis Zion- for our boy(we'll call him Otis)
Aravah Ashay Selah Alice Ruby-for our girl
And then, we'll heiffinate our last names...which are 7 letters and 9 letters. So long names for us!
DS's name is Makena Irie Stephen and he only has his papa's last name..but when I wrote out the Birth cert, they spelled his name "Makenz" and so, when we first got the BC, DS was a month old and right away we paid $5 and got it fixed...but now, 18 months AFTER redoing the BC, we have yet to get it back...so I am probably just going to do a whole new one and definately, finally(!) get to heifinate our last names!!!!
I love everyone's names...they are beautiful!

Wow, names picked out *officially* already?? Impressive!

hey, the name Finn is great! :adds it to mental list:

I was over at that OTHER pregnancy site, poking around a bit, and they have a list of the top 100 2005 names. I was surprised that so many of those names are faves of mine, as I fancy myself an "eclectic namer",

http://www.babycenter.com/general/ba...y/1459677.html

i mean, who knew that these were in the top 100??

Savannah
Layla
Gianna
Charlotte

Logan
Owen
Tristan
Sebastian

(that last one's pretty much a definite if this babe is a boy, top 100 or not!)

Wow! I got dh to agree to a girl name if this baby is a girl!!!! We have a first name at least. We will name her Piper _____ W. I am pretty sure that we will be naming a boy John Leland W and calling him Jack to avoid confusion. Now to get dh to come up with a girlie middle name. That is how we got Allissa Valentine. Dh picked the middle name.

Goldie, Mom to 5 my kiddos and forever loving on my fantabulous dh John.

We have chosen for a boy - Jeriel Austin Hughey and for a girl - Laina Marie Hughey.
Jeriel if for my DH late brother and Austin has its own story that is too long and odd to get into here. Kind of a had to be there kinda story.
Laina I got from a dentist sign and Marie after my grandmother Marion.

DS (03/10) &  DD (06/07) both were/are : waterbirth.jpg homebirth.jpg winner.jpg
