No Annemarie, I am so with you. I could just lay down and sleep 10 more hours if I could. I am taking emergen-c and that helps. But, I'm sooo tired.

Is it a new week already??! Wow! I met my midwife on Sunday, she's awesome. I had an appt to meet another midwife that is in the next town, but I cancelled that appt since I loved this mw so much. DH really clicked with her, too. We left there all smiles yesterday. The one thing that didn't make me smile was her price, though. She charges $4000 AND you have to rent your birthing tub from another woman in town and those are either $400 or $200 depending on if you want a hard tub with jets or an inflatable. This is seeming like A LOT of money, especially compared to my last homebirth. I was living in Oregon then and my mw had her own tubs that she let you use for free and she charged $2500. It's my own fault for getting pregnant with no health insurance I quit my job that had full benefits 2 months ago and didn't get the cobra b/c it was so expensive. Oh well. She also said that she sort of wants me to get an u/s to date the pg, since I have no idea exactly when I'm due (lost a lot of weight this summer and still bf caused really irregular af) b/c she is planning on going to a conference in may and she wants to know if she can go or not, depending on my dates. So I just made the appt for next thurs to get an u/s. Wasn't planning on having any, but again, oh well. I guess it will be nice to have a better idea as to when I'm due instead of "sometime in may." I'm feeling better these last few days, not as much nausea as I have been feeling, it's still there, though, just not as intense, so that's nice. And today was the first day to turn in applications to the nursing program at school, so that was sort of excited. I'll find out in Dec if I got in for next year. I'm going to nursing school so I can become a midwife one of these days... Okay enough rambling for me.

Jenn, future midwife, mama to 2 sweet girls (6/05) and (5/07).

Hey Jenn,
Glad you found a midwife I just gave birth in a regular fishy pool tub and I am a larger mama, but it was totally comfortable for me. I got it off of www.birthwithsol.com
It was only $30. You might want to check that out to save a couple hundred $$.
Nursing school! Yay! I hope you get accepted

Another way to save money is to get your u/s thru Fetal Fotos.
Like $100 vs $400 at most doc offices.

Wow, another week has gone by. I am also SO tired this week. Friday was the end of week 8 and since then I have felt gross... not nauseous, just GROSS, and tired, so very tired. I just want to go home and sleep. Maybe I'll go snuggle up with my stinky dog in the back of the van and have a nap.
My midwife called earlier and postponed our first appointment by two weeks because she's on call tomorrow and didn't want to have to cancel on me. *shrug* I was ok with that... the less intervention the better, even from a mw. :

Happy new week to everyone!

I have just had the work weekend from H*ll. I did 3 12 hour nights in a row and I finally feel like I"m coming back from the land of the dead.

The pregnancy is feeling a bit more real this week. I guess last week we were really in shock, I still sometimes just say to dh "holey crap its another one" We haven't told the kids, I think we are going to hold off until closer to december, of course I don't know how that's going to work if I have to take them to the prenatal appoinments?

Still have no idea how to tell my mom.... god it feels like I"m 17 again

Crys, are you a nurse? 12 hour shifts yuck!

Jenn, does your midwife have malpractice insurance? That ups the cost hugely. So does dealing with insurance companies - does she have a discount for cash patients? Bummer that you need an u/s, but cool that she will miss the conference for you if necessary.

I'm lucky, my midwife is only $1500. Part of that is because she's underground, so no insurance or licensing costs. Or rules & regulations she has to follow.

Still only 6 weeks along, still the "barely pregnant" stage. Next Thursday I go hear the heartbeat.

I too am finding myself VERY tired lately.M/S has mysteriously vanished...off to bother some other poor mama!
Still haven't told anyone about the pregnancy (except my closest girlfriend).
My lovely sister had a beautiful baby girl this morning...AWWWW, the new baby smell. I could have cuddled her all day!

Yes I"m a nurse. And I just started this new job, its a rotation of 4 12 hour night shifts with 4 days off then 4 8 hour evenings and 9 days off.... because my shifts all fall over the weekends, my kids don't need to go to daycare, they just get a sitter for a couple hours in the afternoon on the friday. I think it works well to save money on childcare, but I think I"m going to go :

I'm at seven weeks. i'm counting down to the end of october when i'll be 12 weeks and hopefully be over this awful nausea. so far i haven't been totally wiped out tired, but i think i'd prefer that to feeling so ill. We've told all of our family. Everyone is pretty excited. I think a few have their reservations, but it's not them having the baby so I don't know why they are so concerned. I'm still not feeling like I'm *really* pregnant, but the sticks I keep pee'ing on keep coming up positive, so I guess I really am! I can't wait to start feeling the little bean jump around!

Hi, mamas! Sorry to hear about all the morning sickness. Yuck! I, too, am sooooooo tired. I feel like I never get enough rest. It doesn't help that DS still wakes up at night (he has eczema and is up itching) and DD wakes up and wants to nurse (teething). I also care for a few other kids during the day and am wiped out.

I met with my mw last week. She's a lay midwife and her cost is $1800. I'm so excited about my first homebirth!

Katie--thanks for sharing that link! Lots of awesome stuff there!

Catholic Homeschooling mama to DS (6), DD (4), twin DDs (2), DD (7 months), and someone new 7/31/10!

i feel the worst i have felt (nauseous) with this pgncy, but i still don't actually throw up! And this belly expanding is happening entirely too quickly--I don't want maternity jeans at 8 weeks...

Had an interesting week--my boyfriend's stepdad has done and said some horrible stuff recently... I don't know if it's the pregnancy hormones or what, but I feel like this door--behind which all the rage I've ever felt against ANYone is kept--has been thrown open!! GRRRR I am mama hear me roar!

Told my mother I'm expecting again. She almost passed out but recovered pretty quickly. I forbid her from telling my dad tho (feel like a little kid? oh yea)!

My situation isn't ideal and I KNOW that, but I hate that so many people react with "oh cr*p!" instead of "congratulations!". I think I'll just not tell anyone and let them figure it out on their own sometime before May..

Got called for a job interview at Hobby Lobby on Wednesday--we'll see about that. Speaking of jobs, I really need to get out of here and go open my friend's store for her! EEK!

Jesse, that's hilarious that you're nauseous but still peeing on sticks.

First pregnancy I was in maternity pants by 8 weeks. Of course I was so excited to be pregnant I couldn't wait to wear maternity. This time I'll squeeze into my skinny clothes as long as I can. So far they fit fine until dinnertime.

I am greatful to own lots of stetch jeans. I guess with each baby you show easier, or at least it works that way with me. Im about 8 weeks or so and I am shocked when I look in the mirror these days. i know its mostly bloat but still geeeze.

Ok, just checking in with everyone. I will go through and do personals later? I hope.

Seeing that yesterday was my birthday I really wasn't around too much. I spent some time with my girls and had a really yummy dinner. Dh and the kids got me some nice presents so it was very fun.

There is just one teeny tiny little thing that is driving me crazy. This constant, or almost constant feeling of blah! I am not really nauseous, and certainly haven't heaved in about 4-5 days, I just feel blah and kind of yucky. I have not experienced this before in a pg, so I am hoping that it either progresses into somewhat predicable m/s or goes away, cause this is is driving me bananas. :

Ok, must chase baby down to put a dipe on!

Goldie, Mom to 5 my kiddos and forever loving on my fantabulous dh John.

Happy Birthday Goldiemom! I'm the same way- just don't quite feel right. Not really nauseous anymore, just yucky. Eating seems to help- while I'm eating. And maybe for about 5 minutes after!

I'm with ya! I have no idea who I have suddenly become! I threw a dishrag at DH today, I honked my horn loudly at a driver in front of me because he was too busy leering at a young woman to pay attention to the road : , I snapped at my mom on the phone, and I told poor DD to make her own dinner! (she was whinning about having spaghetti again : )
I am a real jerk today...yeesh.

Will eating chocolate fix the blahs?

Even if it doesn't work, it'll be fun to try.

Im still here. 6 weeks today. The puking started yesterday and the nausea and gas pains are killing me. I flip out over the smallest pains and end up on the phone crying to a friend. Thanks goodness for her!!!
I sympathize with you all about the blah feeling. I have that and I am constantly tired. I cant stay awake to save my life.
I think the worst part is being home alone from 3pm to midnight while DH is at work. I know he cant stay home with me but its hard not having anyone here to help me. I guess I get a bit scared too bit Im still so happy!!!
Thanks for listening to my vent a bit

I know how you feel -- it's all new to me too. So anything that comes up (i.e., my breasts are NOT so swollen today) worries me, but I'm trying not to be a hypochondriac (Sp?) or whatever...

I hear you on this one, my dh is working evenings this week as well, and it totally sucks to be home at night by myself, not to mention I'm stuck doing bedtime routines for 4 kids solo :
