What? Who? I must need to look at the spotlight thread again cuz last I looked I was next week! I wonder what else I've missed.
This'll be tricky; it's hard for me to get on the computer on the weekend. But for today it's great! I'm waiting and waiting for builds to run.

How old? 29.

How many kids so far? Just Evelyn. She is 21 months.

Where do live? In St. Louis, MO. Technically St. Louis County, which is where almost everybody in St. Louis lives.

What do you do for paid work, if you work outside the home? I'm a programmer. I work for Home Decorators Collection. It's a small company that recently got bought by Home Depot.

Is it what you always wanted to do when you grew up? Yes, in the sense that I always wanted a steady job with a good, reliable paycheck. My dad was (is) a lazy bum and Mom had to support the family. She worked strange jobs that let her spend more time at home, so we rarely had money. I like to know exactly how much is coming in each month.

What's your favorite holiday? and why!? My birthday! Because I get stuff, and people do things for me!

What's your favorite cloth diaper? I could go on forever! Right now it's a Sugarbums fleece AIO with bamboo soaker sewn in at both ends.

Favorite sling/carrier? We use the Ergo most. I have a new Maya pouch that I enjoy using. It's bright green. I'm getting a Didymos for Christmas. Can you use a wrap for back carry while preggo?

Where do you go when you've got some time all to yourself? Hmm. Last time I went to a cloth diaper yard sale. I like to go to the local coffee shop for the best cappuccino ever.

Where did you grow up? Chattanooga, TN until 9; then Hannibal, MO.

Do you have brothers/sisters?
One of each. My brother is 27 and a bit of a case. He has severe ADHD. Brilliant, but lacking connection to reality. He's also in a wheelchair after being run over by a semi truck (he was walking!) four years ago. My sister is awesome! She is 16 and so much like me. Except she's artsy instead of sciencey. We are great friends.

What is your fave memory of Evelyn?

Do you have boy/girl feelings?

Will you have a u/s to find out?

Do you have any fav names?

Now for a new one or two.

Do you have a nickname for referring to the babe?

Have you started to talk about the baby to your dd?

I know she is still little, but does she seem to care one way or the other about the new baby?

Goldie, Mom to 5 my kiddos and forever loving on my fantabulous dh John.

What is your fave memory of Evelyn?Teaching her how to jump in puddles, this past spring.

how did you find MDC?I don't remember. I was pregnant with Evelyn at the time, and I remember posting lots of short replies to get my post count up to 50 to use the trading post for diapers.

where/when/how did you and dh meet?In a bar. It was during hockey playoffs 2001 because I was wearing my jersey. I was there with friends from work, doing shots with them in another room and then wandering over to chat with people at the bar (Eric's group of friends), and doing shots with them. Eric's group thought they had gotten me all drunk, and took me for slingers in the middle of the night. It was a fun night. It was months later that DH and I hooked up, after lots of persistent "friendly" emails from him.

do you get along well with your parents?Well. My mom and I are great friends. My real father I don't know, my legal father I'm on cordial speaking terms with, which is great considering his behaviour since the divorce. My mom's husband now, I love him to death because he's such an awesome granddad to Evelyn. It is confusing having so many father figures.

do you have any hobbies? I like to knit (taught myself while pregnant with Evelyn) but almost never get to. I occasionally scrapbook; I love to cut and glue.

are you crafty? Ha ha. My mom's an artist. MIL sews. I pass stuff on to them.

other than MDC where do you frequent online? I try to do my part to educate my birth boards on FertilityFriend and BabyCenter. Thank goodness they can't hear my retching noises through the screen when they ask about inducing their babies at 39 weeks for convenience.
Other than that, I read some funnies (Pearls Before Swine is my fave) and thedailywtf (computer programming geeks only).

what's the last book you read (for yourSelf, not counting Little Critter or Dora )? Um, I finished rereading David Weber's Service of the Sword not long ago. Now I'm reading a random book sent by an online friend, a tale of the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson.

what kind of music do you like?
Anything I haven't heard before!

what's your dd's favorite thing to do/play with? Oh, the most awesome toy of the year is these two Olympic-style rings, dangling from a doorway in our living room. DH bought them for exercise, but we adjust them to waist-height and Evelyn hangs from them, swings and spins and twists. Great fun.

what's your favorite restaurant?
Oooh, easy one! Sienna Bistro in Kansas City, MO.

do you like to cook/bake?Love to cook. Not crazy about baking but I can make a good loaf of bread from scratch, thanks to my mom.

Who were you before having you children? A hasher! I partied and drank a lot before getting pregnant. I went to college at an engineering school (read: way more men than women). I had a lot of fun.

If you could give your children one of your talents/personality traits, what would it be? My math and logic skills. It makes my life (school & job) easy.

What are your nicknames?
JessiTRON! obviously. My hash name is Witty Titty Carrot Committee.

What did you want to be when you grow up? What DO you want to be when you grow up? A mom! A grandmother!

What do you wish for the future of our world?
I figure Jesus will come back eventually and then it'll be better. Read CS Lewis's "The Last Battle."

What color best describes who you are? Orange!

What is the best thing about being a woman? Lots of things. Being attractive to men is fun, since I like hanging out with them. But that doesn't have an impact anymore, now that I'm all happily married and stuff. Breastfeeding, that's way up there. So let's just sum it up with "Boobs."

What religion are you, if any? Southern Baptist. I don't agree with all the denomination's decisions and policies, but I do agree with their doctrine as it relates specifically to Christianity and the Bible.

What was your first reaction when you heard Donald Rumsfeld is resigning?
Yay! about time. Voting accomplished something.

What is your fovaorite thing about this season? It's not winter yet?

What is your favorite thing about the merry month of May?
Warm weather!

Are you into astrology? Nope.

Whoa! You're the new pres of the US, what is the first thing you're going to do? Get lay midwifery legalized nationwide, of course!

Did you go to college? If so, where?University of Missouri, Rolla. BS in Physics, minors in Comp Sci, Math, & Econ.

What was the craziest thing you've ever done?
Hmm. One time on a business trip in Calgary I went to a rave with some people I met in a bar that evening. My only rave experience.

How many kids do you and dh want to have? I'm hoping for three.

How are you planning on schooling your kids?
Probably public schools. But we'll check out the Waldorf and Montessori near us.

Do you have any AP friends in real life?
Yes, most of my mom friends I've met through Friends of Missouri Midwives, so they're all homebirthers.

Does your family/IL's support your AP lifestyle?
Yes. Occasionally my dad (mom's husband) will make comments that I should let Evelyn CIO, but I tell him it won't happen.

How did you find out about AP? It all started with home birth, which I learned about through a wife of one of my coworker friends. Then, I learned a lot of the rest of it here.

What is the hardest thing about being an AP mom? Du-u-u-ude, I have it easy. My MIL lives with us and takes care of Evelyn, so she has consistent, family care even though I work. MIL also does most of the housework. Nighttime is hard sometimes, when she wakes up a lot and wants to munch in the rocking chair.

Are you planning on tandem nursing? Yeah. Not thrilled about the tandem nursing idea exactly, but don't want to stop nursing Evelyn. So tandem it is, unless she weans herself by the baby's arrival.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures! I should post more someday.

Do you have boy/girl feelings? Very strong boy feelings. Ever since Evelyn was small, I can't imagine other girl newborns. I always picture boys for subsequent babies. I keep imagining calling him "Will," too, which is a nice name if it weren't so popular, and DH is dead set against it. Corwin James, that's our boy name.

Will you have a u/s to find out?
No way! I loved the surprise with Evelyn. Hoping to avoid u/s altogether, but will give in to a diagnostic one around 32 weeks if the doctor pushes for it.

Do you have any fav names? Linda Grace for a girl, Corwin James for a boy. THat's been decided for a long time. Linda is my MIL's name. Corwin is kinda like FIL's name (Kerwin) only not as dorky.

Now for a new one or two.
Okay.

Do you have a nickname for referring to the babe? just "New Baby."

Have you started to talk about the baby to your dd?
I mention it sometimes.

I know she is still little, but does she seem to care one way or the other about the new baby?
Nope. She shows some interest in babies and baby dolls, but no grasp of this sibling concept. I should get her some books for Christmas.

Dude, it takes most people a lot more than a minute and a half of confusion to grasp what hashing is.
for others: Hashing involves running around following a trail, and drinking beer, and then more running around following a trail, and then drinking lots more beer and singing really obnoxious songs while drinking beer.

Oh yeah, it's fun!

Favorite alcoholic drink: a good, DRY red wine, or else a Belgian monk beer

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: cappuccino from Kayak's when the really good looking dude makes it. (not because he's good looking, just because he makes it the best.)

JESSITRON!! I found you! You sent me here to MDC from another board (BC) for "all crunchy, all the time." You're right, and I couldn't be happier. I've even "found my tribe" locally. So nice to read more about you. Best wishes for a wonderful pregnancy!

Vacation: Without kids, Czechoslovakia. With kids, Martha's Vineyard.

My last vacation: Only real "vacation" vacation that didn't involve visiting family was honeymoon. Cancun.

Diaper stash? best guess, $5000

Doing differently? resting less, not eating as well. (blame evelyn) Backup care with an OB who doesn't suck. No raking leaves.

Where did you see yourself when you first got out of high school? Like, see myself now? About here. I'm a little behind on kids, not much.

Where do you see yourself when your children are all grown up? Not far from here. Maybe I'll start hashing again regularly, or maybe do something constructive like volunteer for church stuff and political stuff.

Are you going to buy new diapers for this one?I'm buying some in smaller or one-size sizes. I have tons and tons in size Large, which is where Evelyn has been since 4 months old. The same snap settings, even.

Have you ever got so drunk that you don't remember anything?
I don't remember how many times! Yeah, a lot. I find it entertaining afterward to hear stories about myself that I don't know the outcome of.

Does your husband work outside the home? What does he do? He's a metallurgist. His company runs metal parts through furnaces and he checks their hardness and other properties and figures out why they break.

What is your power animal? what's a power animal? myfavorite animal is Armadillo.

ADmire: My grandmother and grandfather. They were awesome. They wrote books about missionaries, and my grandfather was the most godly man I can imagine. He really is the image of everything Christianity should be.

Parenting: Make sure she knows we love her before anything else. Let her do whatever she wants, if it isn't likely to get her killed. I like to set her loose in a public place and follow her around while she explores.

Favorite space in my house: Ooo, tough one. The bed I guess, since I can never get enough of it. I like the couch too, my first couch out of college since we haven't been motivated to buy one that matches the room. We moved here 1 week before getting pregnant with Miss Evelyn, so I don't really have a space that's mine.

Done anything to take back: Heck yeah! I treated some guys I dated pretty badly. One in particular was very persistent and I was really rough on him. He is an awesome guy, one I could have married if the spark had been there, but it wasn't. We're still in touch, thank goodness, and I'd give a lot if I could make up for the way I treated him somehow.

I did some journaling and went to one counseling session to process Evelyn's birth a few months after she was born. It was the hardest thing I ever did, no doubt. But there are a lot of positives about it, and I'm not mad at myself anymore for any of it, although there are things I'd do differently now, like not let them take her away for one pediatrician check, not let them take her picture, that kind of thing. The only thing I still want to do, closer to May, is discuss with my midwife the things I hope to do differently this time.

This is the second one, and those are supposed to go quicker and smoother, right? I'm hoping it does.

I have five SOS and a few assorted itty bitty diapers. For the rest I'll use prefolds. Evelyn wore newborn dipes -- no, make that smalls; she never wore newborn sizes -- for three weeks max. No since buying a bunch of cute diapers for that length of time. I am picking up some mediumish diapers, like a few Fluffymail size 1s. If I can snag some more gender-neutral SOSs I will. Those can be used for both newborn and Evelyn, so they're worth it.
