Hubby and I have decided after much thought to go with one of these two spellings for Kyla.

Kiila Rose
or
Kiela Rose

I would LOVE Kaila Rose, but it seems to get read Kay-la instead of Kyla.

So will you let me know your thoughts on which name you like best??
Thank you so much for your help with this!

I voted not for Kiila rose. Even though i know how it's supposed to be pronounced I read it Killa Rose, as if it's a rap name or a metal band.

ya, i totally saw "killa rose" too. if i have a boy, i'm totally naming him killa'

in all seriousness, with that said, i'd probably hafta pick the other one: Kiela

eta: i saw in another post (pregnancy) that you were worried about the pronunciation; fwiw, i didn't really read the post and looked at the names and in my head said "kee-lah" for kiila and "ky-la" for kiela. still don't even really know what sound you're going for... lemme check... ky-la? ok. good.

Ok, hubby and I pretty much decided that Kiila is OUT!! Lol!
But you know what? We are liking Kaila for Kyla. Would most of you read that as Kay-la? Because I am thinking Kaila Rose is a pretty spelling if pronounced Kyla Rose!
Oh man, this is the hardest decision of our lives!!!! Lol!

You're telling me (it's the hardest decision!)

I like Kaila, too; but as for the pronunciation, I'm too biased now because I already saw that you want it to be read "Ky-la" ...Hrm.

Kaila is by far the best so far for the pronouciation you want.
Kiela Rose runs the risk of being pronounced "Keela". That's how I'd read that one. If you spelled it Keila I would be more likely to pronouce the I long, but it still isn't perfect.
My official vote is now for Kaila. It's very pretty to look at too.

I think we are really leaning towards Kaila Rose now if pronounced Kyla Rose. I really love the spelling.

This has been SUCH a hard decision!!! Lol!

i didn't choose either on the poll b/c i Like Kila Rosa

and even though i know a little boy named Kai. i still see kay-la with the second option.

Courtney and Cree, baby made 3, added one more then there were 4, sakes alive, then we had 5, another in the mix now we have 6!

A Momma in love with her Little Women-Jewel Face, Jo Jo Bean, June Bug, and Sweet Coraline.

When I first saw Kiila Rose, I thought I was reading Kill A Rose.

I would go for the other spelling. Actually, I would choose Kyla. So much simpler for spelling purposes.

Who would think that Kaila would be pronounced any other way than Kay-la?

Hubby and I have made up our minds. We are going with Kaila Rose (Kyla Rose) It was a big decision but in the end, we LOVE the spelling and it flows so beautifully! Thank you all for your suggestions! Good luck with naming your little ones!

I know you already decided, but when i see Kaila Rose...I immediately think of Kayla. I'm teaching phonics to my 1st grader though..so anytime we see 2 vowels together, then the first one gets pronounced and the second is silent. Hence...kay-la.

If you want Kyla Rose, I'd go with Kiela Rose. Otherwise I'm afraid your DD will *forever* be correcting people on the pronunciation of her name, which might get very frustrating for her. It makes me think of spelling Fred *h.e.n.r.y.* and always wondering why people call him Henry. :

Jesse, wife to DH , mama to DD 13, DS 11, DS 8, DD 6, DS 3 & bean EDD 12/18/13

Did you consider Kylah as a spelling? Then it would be written as you want it to be pronounced and there by ending all confusion? I would never even think to pronounce Kaila by anything other than the 2 vowels together rule and saying it as kay-lah.
