All of the sudden this week I am EXHAUSTED. I have such a hard time getting up in the morning and have been sleeping later and later. And even when I do get a good night's sleep (between peeing and being just plain uncomfortable) I am still soooo tired. Been eating a bit more too but I am honestly so tired I have trouble even getting the energy to do that.

I have a feeling DD just might be hitting a growth spurt, but is this normal for the 3rd trimester ? Or could it be something else? Does anyone else feel this crappy? I am 33.5 wks.....

Well, I've been pretty tired, not as bad as you, and my hemoglobin turned out to be just below the line for normal. I had never had this problem before, but I'm nursing as well as pg, so I guess I just need more iron than ever. So far nettle tea seems to be helping. It takes a couple days to start to make a difference. hth

I would up your iron and see if it helps. I have had to take extra iron.
I have been tired this last week too, it could be because I caught a cold. I have also been really hungry. I took a nap everyday in the first trimester but didn't need one during the second. The last few days I have been napping again. Maybe it is a third trimester thing. I read somewhere that our babies are packing on 1/2 pound every week now!

Definitely get your iron levels checked. If they're not low then overloading your system with iron probably wouldn't be a good idea, but chances are if you are feeling sluggish it's an iron thing. I was feeling pretty tired (but I'm also working 10-12 hours a day) and my hemoglobin is 29 so I'm taking Floradix 2x a day and I think it's helping!

I had that just over a month ago, and figured it was just normal third trimester exhaustion, but when I got my hgb checked, it was a bit low. So, maybe you could try increasing your iron and see if that helps a little.

I was that tired last week and the week before. This week was somewhat better.... I didn't have my iron tested but I did eat a few steaks and an extra bag of spinach, so it might have been dropping a bit. I think it's just normal. Our babies are growing rapidly and sucking the energy out of us! Listen to your body and get a few extra hours of sleep!

Anemia is really common during pregnancy, even for women that aren't remotely anemic when not pg. It can never hurt to up your iron intake just in case.

30 weeks here... Tired and hungry like you wouldn't believe!!! This week it's been EXTREME, so I'm pretty sure these babes are having a little spurt.

I'm 30 weeks as well and completely exhausted most of the time. It doesn't help that I have been battling bronchitis the last 10 days or so...

I agree with the pps that it's probably just normal ol' pregnancy tiredness or low iron levels, but another possibility is low thyroid (hypothyroidism). Ask your doc to check your T4 and TSH levels to find out for sure; it's a problem that often goes undetected and can cause severe fatigue (as well as some other problems).

Wishing you lots of energy soon!

Just had a regular check up at the OB yesterday (34wks) and hemoglobin and everything is fine. As we all suspected...totally normal to start getting tired! I have a little bit more energy this week too. thank goodness, I defend my dissertation in 2 weeks and have a lot to do!

They also told me that near the last few weeks I can expect really swollen feet and feeling HOT all the time (which is just great for here in the south where it is already 80 degrees outside). Oh fun.....so I will be sweaty, hot, exhausted and swollen for my defense!:

Well, maybe it won't be so bad. I was pretty swollen much of last pg, starting early 2nd tri, but this time it hasn't been nearly as bad. Every pregnancy is different.

ME!! I'm so tired all the time. It makes me feel so guilty. I'm normally a person who can sleep till noon on Sat or Sun but now I can sleep until 2 or 3. DH says that if he didn't know better he'd think I was hung over. Its so hard to get anything done around here. I get tired after about 20 mins of cleaning. Glad I'm not the only one who is so tired. As bad as that sounds I'm glad I'm not alone..

I'm tired and hungry too! I am eating kid food though...like cereal and pasta. I don't crave anything heavy or difficult to digest.

I am not anemic at all, so I just think its because my body is working harder. Moving around with an extra 26lbs on my body is hard work!

matzoh and jam sounds good! I could live off of cereal. I come home from work and the first thing I do is make myself a bowl. I haven't eaten a real dinner in days, I just keep eating cereal. For breakfast I usually have yogurt or oatmeal (no cereal in my office ). I did the same thing with dd2, so I'm guessing I do it to avoid the intestinal upset that comes with things like salad and other real food...lol.

Ah ha, I was looking for this thread, trying to figure out what is up. I'm at about 33 weeks now, and I haven't had any really exhausted periods in a couple months, now all of a sudden I'm just wiped this week. Most of the nights I have, as usual, been sleeping poorly but that's been going on a while now. But during the day I keep falling asleep (which isn't good, I have 1 more exam to study for) and can't figure out what's up. Haven't got my 32 wk. bloodwork done yet so I guess I'll go one Monday and see if my iron levels are low; but I'm still taking prenatals & floradix 1x day so it seems strange that I could be low.

Or maybe growing a baby is just tiring?
