Hello I"m home

Thanks for all the well wishes, the super quick run down (i'll have to post the real story later)

I thought the baby wasn't moving the morning of the 2nd, so after some walking and pumping which did start contractions I got a bit panicked and called the midwife, she suggested we meet in a few hours to get a nst, but after I thought about it for a couple minutes I realized that no I really thought there was something wrong and should go to the hospital immediately

We got there and he finally moved, his heart rate was fine but non responsive (didn't go up when he moved or contractions) so it was recomended I not go home but I was in pretty active labor by that point anyway

I labored in the shower for a while and then on hands and knees active labor started about 2 or 3 oclock still a pretty monotone heart rate

baby crowned and head came out only to discover the tightest nuchal cord around his neck (in retrospect the cord was only 10 inches long total) couldn't lift it over his head and he wasn't coming out with it around his neck so they clamped and cut while I pushed the rest of his body out (he was born pretty immediate after the cord was cut)

but he was unresponsive blue and limp they had to call a code blue and perform cpr his apgar for 2 min was a 1 but they went up from there apgar was 4 at 5 min and 6 at 10 minutes they took him to the nursery with respiratory and a pediatrician and suctioned his stomach and lungs and then he was able to fully inflate his lungs

he was great by about 20 minutes and totally normal by 1 hr he was born at 6:29 pm on may 2nd and I was able to nurse him by 8pm he was on room air after about 7pm and he was monitored in the nursery overnight with no problems (nursed three times that night) and then released to my room to room in until this morning when we finally got to go home

he's sure a cutie

and I'm totally okay with not getting a homebirth, because I knew before I went to the hospital instinctively that that was where he needed to be born

My midwife said that a bit of red blood was ok, but that if it continued to trickle to call. So, keep an eye on it and if it stops then you're ok if not, give them a call.

A little bit of red blood is ok, but if it doesn't stop or gets heavy then you should call your MW. Heavy red bleeding (period flow or more) can be a sign of a placenta issue. It sounds like it is just some bloody show and that is a really good sign!

well i'm getting ready for bed still just small amounts of bloody show, I have calmed down, I have never had bright red blood before or during labor so its new to me and I was a little stressed. But I know the amount is not indicative of placenta problems (I think there would be a lot more than just what I have now which is spotting)

but man am I ever uncomfortable just achy in my pelvis and lower back no noticeable contractions to speak of but I"m glad baby is holding off till at least my dd's birthday has passed (its her birthday today)

Thanks for a reassurances
Crystal

I went to my regular scheduled apointment this morning and had the midwife checked me and I was 3 cm but an hour after I left (after I had my hair done ) my water broke so I"m sitting here leaking enormous amounts of clear fluid with a little bit of bloody show and no contractions. I say baby's here within 24hrs

the midwife just came to check on me, baby's heart tones are good, fluid still clear still no contractions but baby was posterior and is now anterior (thank god) she said to take it easy tonight because she already has a mom in labor so I won't be doing jumping jacks till the morning

still nothing I went for a walk this morning for an hour before the kids woke up, hopefully that helped with positioning and something will happen

THe midwife insists that 95% of women (term women) go into labor by the 24 hour mark but there's only 5 hours left till then and nothing is happening

So glad that you listened to your intuitions and still got to have what sounds like a very fulfilling birth! Thanks for sharing!
