well, i went ahead and did today what i said i wouldn't have done before 41 weeks - had my membrane stripped. i hope i made the right decision. i am 40 weeks today and i had a long discussion with midwife and my husband about whether or not to do it. basically, since i am a vbac and won't be allowed to go past 42 weeks, we decided it was a good idea to do it this week and then again next week at my 41 week appointment (she said frequently the procedure has to be done more than once). i am positive about my conception dates, so i know that *technically* this isn't too early, but i just don't want to force the baby to come before it's ready. but on the other hand, i really REALLY don't want another c-section and i know that will benefit both me and the baby. we also had to schedule my date to come in if i hit 42 weeks to have the baby (may 15) - at that point they will insert a foley balloon into my cervix to encourage dilation and rupture my membranes. anyway, other than all that crap, things look great, baby looks great and has good heartbeat. the baby is engaged and i am now (post membrane stripping) at 2 centimeters.

i am not feeling any different at this point. that storm front should be hitting my area within the next two hours - maybe that will help.

thank you for your kind words dancebaraka. i don't know why i am feeling so insecure about this decision - probably just the fear of the unknown. anyway, i'm still not feeling anything. i don't know - i guess i thought i'd just start fully contracting right away (even though the midwife said it more than likely wouldn't start that soon)
