I had a big dry/red patch on each of my butt cheeks last time I was prego and it's happening again.

Could be also that I live in Colorado and it's winter. But it didn't happen last winter when I wasn't pg or ever before that.

Am I just weird?

Oh yea, I got the lovely dry butt cheeks too! I've been using whatever skin cream I'v egot handy- and two days ago i got energetic enough to make an oil to use- olive oil with vit E, Geranium, Manderine, and patchouli (just a drop or two).... and it is starting to help some- and helping my poor chapped hands and ripped cuticles!!

I get mine on my outer hips back toward the butt--my "haunches", I usually say. Plus the inside of my knees and my belly. Itch, itch, itch...

My doctor pointed out that lotions are humectants--they attract moisture. If you put on lotion when it is arid/dry, the lotion can SUCK moisture FROM YOUR SKIN! That's why they recommend putting on lotion right out of the shower (or right after a thorough hand-washing) when you've got extra moisture inside there already to "hold in" via the lotion.

I have to use very thick cream--Cetaphil (creamier) or Eucerin (positively sticky, but effective)--to avoid chapped skin this winter, due to the pregnancy. Normally, I'm a normal/oily complection, but not this year. In a typical winter (I'm in New England), I need to apply facial moisturizer every other day to balance between dry skin and breakouts. This year, I need it every morning, and I can't wash my face at bedtime or it gets red and scaly.

Dry red patches everywhere, cracked hands, you name it. I always have terrible dry skin in the winter... so don't know if pregnancy is making it worse or not. It is partially my own fault... I HATE the feel of lotion and so I don't put it on enough. A few more months of cold....

I have dry skin everywhere. . . I thought it was probably just the unusually cold winter but its starting to warm up (although temporarily) and my skin isn't any happier. I have one patch of skin so dry on my left arm that I feel like an alligator.
