I do not want to turn this into a CVS/Amnio debate at all. I am having a CVS on the 31st. I was wondering if anyone else is planning on having one and if you are where you live and who is doing it.

We lost a baby girl at 18 weeks to a rare chromosone disorder. I did have an amnio with her when they found problems, and I also had one with my next two children.

I use a perinatolgist that spends most of his days doing amnios at a major hospital. It was a tiny bit uncomfortable but certainly not bad in anyway. The wait for results is far worse. I had no problems thankfully after any of them.

Most problems are caused by inexperienced OB's who try and do an amnio unguided by u/s.

There was recently a published study showing that amnios today are nowhere near as risky as the 1 in 200 that they have been reporting. More like 1 in 2800 I recall it saying.

Good Luck, it's not an easy decision for anybody.

I am a high risk pregnancy so I am going to discuss all these options with my OB when the time comes. But there's a good chance I am going to have a CVS, not sure about an Amnio.

I am however going to be monitored quite heavily so that means lots of blood work, testing and ultrasounds. Whatever helps me stay healthy and have a safe pregnancy is fine with me.
