DD has a first name that means red (bright red if you want to get technical ). I would love to continue on with this. Dh and I can't agree on ANY name though.

He likes Violet (mainly because of UltraViolet the movie ). I LOVE Sorrell (French for Red), Saffron, and Aurelia (golden IIRC). There are some others that we like but are just kind of so-so on so they aren't on our list.

Help me come up with some other names! I absolutely do NOT want to use Violet.

Aurelia -- you've got a winner!! There is Cyan, Sienna -- and then there are of course stones that are associated with certain colors -- Ruby, Sapphire Opal. But still I like Aurelia.

Lovely names everyone! Scarlet is out since that's already DD. I'm working on Aurelia. DH's problem is once she's in school "smart" boys will say, "I'll rail ya'". Yeah. He's juvenile.

Oooo a friend just popped up with a different spelling for Sorrell. She said to try Sorelle. I think I like that spelling even more than my original....oh I wish DH loved that one as much as I do.

Personally I looove Saffron (Saffie is just the cutest nickname!!!). DH said "Hell no" to Saffron. Too much of a hippie name for him. Ugh. DH loves the popular (in his opinion "normal") names

I'm not big on the name Sorrell because I'm a horse person and that's the term for a red horse. That would turn out badly for a child in my area.

I do like Sterling, Aurelia, Azure, Amber, Lavender, Pearl

Pretty choices. I have a VIolet(such a bummer that it is so popular though). I think I named her when the charlie and the chocolate factory and anothr movie were out, and I am so clueless on current movies and stuff that I would have never named her that if I had known. LOL

I have a 15 year old niece named Violet - I think it's a lovely name. One of my kids' middle name is Grey so I always think of it as a boy name, but we have come across a few little girls with that name.
