I've loved all the pics!! I'm glad to hear most everyone is doing well, and those with sick babies, I hope you see better days very soon!
We're doing well, Luna is fat and happy. She sleeps like a champ, only waking me up once a night to nurse - heavenly! Now if I could just get my toddler to sleep in!
Luna is basically the easiest baby I could imagine having. She pretty much never cries, sleeps a lot and is happy when awake. She gets a little cranky just before falling asleep and fusses some, but that's it. She smiles a lot and really resonds well when I talk to her. Her eyes get big and she kicks and punches the air and watches my mouth, trying to imitate it - soooooo cute!
I'll post pics when I have more time. Love to all you mamas!

I don't really know where else to ask this...

When should I start to be concerned about continued bleeding? I'm at 8 weeks postpartum and the bleeding has almost tapered off a few times. But then it starts again. And I've noticed that the bleeding restarting seems to coincide with crying jags and general feelings of hopelessness--depression, I guess.

Any wisdom to share?

Oh, and here are recent pictures of Charlotte so this post isn't completely OT...

Do you consume caffeine? I ask becase I'll start spotting again when I drink Pepsi, especially if I haven't in a few days. Are you a red head by chance? They bleed longer on average.

dctexan glad it's not just us! DD2 does the lobster red thing too. She strains her body so much during the day we're suprised when we see her real color.

I know it's crazy! He's only 6 weeks, but he is huge - in the last two days he just outgrew some of his 3-6month onesies. I was at my IL's house and I put the baby on his tummy on a blanket in the living room. I went to the kitchen and when I came back he was on his back halfway off the blanket. FIL and DS1 were in there playing with trains. I asked FIL if he turned the baby over or if the baby rolled himself, and well, he rolled himself. FIL did not even realize that was the first time for rolling. LOL Baby hasn't rolled again, but he slept a lot today. He must be having another growth spurt.

Tis the season, for hot apple cider!

Jenn, Pls consider calling your midwife about the bleeding. I thought the norm was to stop at 6 w, with spotting thereafter only upon overexertion or exercise.

I agree that you should call the midwife, just to check in - but I also want to say that I have a friend who bled for 9 weeks so 6+ weeks isn't completely unheard of. Sorry you are still bleeding. At just over 4 weeks I appear to be almost done (but who knows, I thought I was almost done last week and it started up again).

OtherMother'n'Madre, we have similar babies. My son is so high needs and colicky, I'm worn out. He's almost 8 weeks old now and I'm not as frustrated anymore. I've gotten better at handling him and I now know that he has to be on me or touching me at all times and I have accepted it. At least he sleeps well at night!

Here is a recent photo of him. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1043/...c4d389ae4f.jpg

I've resigned myself to swadlling forever (need to get bigger blankets!) and wearing/touching. It's funny...once we go to bed at night she's out. And doesn't wake up. And doesn't cry. And usually isn't touching me or swaddled. It's that tricky dark thing I guess.

Oh I love all the beautiful baby pics. Sunchild, Tahlea looks like an angel in that picture!

Aili loves between 10pm and 2am. She thinks that's party time. She's not upset, but wide-eyed and eating constantly. She just drifted off to sleep right now, but she wakes so easily during these hours. She does get some major gas, burps like a trucker and passes wind like a very loud adult.

Here's some of her pics. We caught a smile too. She started smiling at about 2 weeks when Daddy makes funny noises at her.

An update... Andre is now 5 weeks old!

About a week ago Andre was VERY cranky for a few days, which had me really frustrated. I thought it was gas, so I gave up caffeine and dairy, and it has made a HUGE difference! He still likes to be carried all the time, but he doesn't cry inconsolably for long periods now; maybe two minutes now and then, but he'll usually stop once he gets what he wants. Totally different from the long screaming bouts he had before.

So, for those with cranky babies (and those who breastfeed--sometimes I forget that people don't, since everyone in my family does), consider changing your diet.

It's been soooo hard to give up dairy, because I'm a semi-vegetarian (only eat fish and dairy) so nixing my major source of protein is huge! Plus, I love milk. We go through a gallon a day!

Otherwise, things are getting better. DS1 is adjusting to having a baby around. He still hits occasionally, but he doesn't try to do it all the time. Plus, he's completely enamored by the baby... he just forgets his own strength sometimes.

Andre is... squishy. I haven't had him weighed since 10 days old, when he was back to birth weight, but he's FAT! It's so cute. He's in mostly 3-6 month clothes now, and is just... well... squishy.

i have been MIA for a long time, and just getting back on mothering the last few days. living overseas, everytime i am online i am either emailing friends/family back home or posting pics/video for them to see of Ruby.

Things are going great! At first Ruby was not gaining weight and i was completely devastated by this, it took her about 7 weeks to get back to her birth weight and it was a very stressful time. it seems that all i did was feed her to no avail. my old-school mom was pressuring me to go for the bottle and give up breastfeeding, and that did not help my stress level at all. i did start to express and use a bottle earlier than i ever planned, but it does let DH get some bonding time with Ruby. Luckily it all seemed to have finally come together and Ruby is now over 10 lbs and is 9 weeks old.

i have learned as a first time mom, that the most important thing is to always remain flexible. i had all these wonderful ideas about how everything would be: labour, breastfeeding, babywearing, co-sleeping, etc. and on almost everyone i had to change my naive ideas and just go with the flow. like i alluded to above, breastfeeding was hard to establish at first, ruby just could not get what she needed and i had to express and supplement with breastmilk by giving it to her in a syringe for the first 4 weeks. ruby hates the pouch sling i have for around the house, but seems to be more content in the babyhawk that i bought. we also got a baby bjorn for my DH and she seems to be ok in that when we are out hiking.

it also took us a while to get Ruby to fit into her cloth diapers, and now everything is going fine. co-sleeping is working out great, it gives me loads of sleep! at first my DH wasn't 100% sold on it, but now he is happy that i talked him into it.

here is a link to some pictures of Ruby:

We've been doing good here. Baby Noah is already 8 weeks old! Where does the time go? We went on vacation last week, drove to Mackinaw Island from the Detroit Area with our camper. It was a cinch, really...I expected it to be a lot harder then it was with two kids. Anyway, my csection wound healed wonderfully and now I just have to lose the baby fat! I have signed up with WW so I am hoping I will lose fast while nursing.

Noah is getting really big-will have to post pics later!

I have been missing this August board! Just been so busy I haven't been able to keep up! Hope all the babies and mamas are doing very well!!

Travis is now 3 months old and is doing well, he sleeps in 3-4 hour blocks most of the time, he is very very very talkative, definitely my most vocal baby, and he is very cute, of course. We moved from Ann Arbor michigan to Denver Colorado in October, so that has been a huge change.

Some pictures...
