My baby has infant acne, she is such a pimple face and on her ears, and seems to get irritated if she sweats her face is is all bumby now. I forget how long it last, I remeber my second dd had it for her christening. My grandmother had told me to to clean her face with breastmilk and it will clear up. Anyone else?

My babe has it too. (born 8/28).. I'd guess to say the breastmilk would work, breastmilk is amazing enough to clear up anything else.

**fyi, my babe has blocked tear ducts and a stuffy nose, and I've been squirting bm in his eyes and up his nose, so he does get some on his face, although I haven't seen a difference yet, but I've been only doing it for two days now.

Wow, our babes have the same things. Her clogged tear duct has just started to clear up where she isn't waking up in the am with crusted sticky eye. I would squirt bm in her eye and massage the corner 3x day. In the am I'd give her a bath and massage the eye with a warm-hot cloth every morning and before bed. Now I'm squirting bm up her nose for the stuffyness and on her face. I think my mom thinks I'm officially nuts! I know bm is magic stuff.

my baby has infant acne. It's finally clearing up. I thought about breastmilk but just used old fashioned baby shampoo. I bathed him every other day or so. It took all of my will power to not pick at his face sometimes... those white heads looked like they wanted to pop so badly. I'm glad to see his smooth baby skin re-emerging.

BM actually makes it worse as it is caused by your hormones, which are also in your breastmilk. Try water and a mild soap. It may just need time to run its course.

I agree BM does wonders for the tear ducts and noses though!

Mine has it on his face, head, arms and back.... *sigh* I think he's beautiful...

Orion had blocked tear duct too, but it cleared up after a few weeks.

Public health nurse told me it will just clear up, and that she's seen it a lot worse.

Mine seems to be a reaction to something I've eaten. By morning her skin is clearer and then sometime during the day it'll flare up. At one point it was down her cheek and neck and ear.

My dd had it really bad around three weeks, and now it has pretty much cleared up around six weeks.
We have a blocked tear duct too that comes and goes.

Yeah, we've got it here too, off and on. It's not something I worry about, I just make sure she stays clean. I have noticed that it's worse on nights when she sleeps on my arm a lot. That particular cheek will flare up. I use a warm wash cloth on her face in the morning to get off the sticky breast milk, that seems to help ease the reddness.
My first dd had a blocked tear duct until she was a year old. I used breast milk and warm, wet cotton balls to clean it.

Nolan just had a 6 weeks check up today and the doctor told us that 6 weeks is when it peaks and is usually gone by 11 to 12 weeks. She suggested using only warm water (no soap or lotions) and to make sure you always wipe off any spit up with a warm wash cloth asap.

I have read it peaks at 6 weeks, but that is when my baby had it the worst. He's 8 weeks now and no more acne.

one of the mamas in my moms group said that it can be a sign of an allergy. Her friend stopped dairy and her dd's infant acne went away. Most of my babies have had it, Ruby had it for a week shortly after she was born, but hasn't had it since.

That is really not proven, but just a popular theory. BM does in fact soothe it, making it a whole lot less angry looking.
