Hi! I am just looking for support, i guess. My 13 yr old son decided on his own that he wanted to go on outward bound! He was self motivated in getting physically fit. I did all of the paperwork and everything. the kid didn't get cold feet once till the night before he left, then he got really nervous, even throwing up! He is my first born, all of a sudden he seems to be turning into a man! It is so bittersweet for me, I am having a hard time letting go
I know he will do great, I just cant stop thinking and worrying! This is a boy that wouldn't go out to the chicken coop at night, without the dog six months ago!
He has never been away from home other than the occasional sleepover!
I have so much nervous energy, I don't know what to do with myself!

Outward Bound was one of the best experiences of my life so far. I was 16 and decided on my own to do it too. I did the 26-day Hurricane Island, ME program. Totally wonderful! I hope you son has a great time.

Congraulations! It sounds like you've got quite a motivated son. My dh did Outward Bound at a bit older age, and still talks about it today! It was a pretty defining experience for a young man.

I think that sounds awesome! I'd love for my DS to do something like that.
