I'm actually new to the boards and decided to come on here as I'm at my whits end with my eldest daughter who is almost 11. She really is a great kid but that preteen attitude has kicked in: the eye rolling, whining, crying, foot stamping etc....what on planets earth happened to my sweet girl? I know she is in the beginning stages of puberty so those wonderful hormones are surging through her veins..grr.
Does anybody have some good sound advice for my husband and I? We would love to have a drama free evening for one night. I feel like nothing I do or say is the right thing and I'm trying to hard not to take it personally
I'm a stay at home mama by the way to 3 very lively girls...it's a full time crazy but rewarding job!!
Yep. It always feels like we are the only ones with kids like this but we really aren't special :wink. You may find that things get a little better when she hits puberty...or not. I recommend 'How to Talk so Teens will Listen and Listen so Teens will Talk'. I also recommend 'Love and Logic for Teens'. They are very different but depending on her personality and issues you can come up with something that at least makes you feel less crazy.
