So my older DD has a driving permit and we are practicing. I'm very happy about this because it is HUGE step toward independence. But we are at the stage where we go for a little practice drive most days and it scares the crap out of me. Yesterday we went on a path only taking right turns. Today we added a couple of lefts. She isn't doing anything wrong. She is very careful. She understands the need for caution.

But if I didn't already have grey hair, I would by the end of this month.

I do a lot of deep breathing, as quietly as possible so it's not a distraction.

You've just reminded me that we haven't been out practicing in a week or so, although I think DH has let her drive recently.  DD's photo license arrived in the mail yesterday. She passed the test back in early August and has had a temporary paper version to use since then.

19 y.o. DS borrowed the car last weekend to go out of town with some friends. Sometimes it's harder when you are NOT in the car with them.

Makes me a little nostalgic for the days when walking to school by themselves was a big deal.......

Hang in there  thumb.gif

My 16. (in June) got his license in July, my 18 year old (in Jan) is still working on getting hers. We did a lot of laps in the high school parking lot.

It really was not that hard. She had seen me drive it for years, so she had a clue. And then I talked her through it. You can do that.

Doing that now because the car that he will be the primary driver of is standard shift.  He's actually picking it up quick.
