Hey there, there is probably a link to this some where on this site, but what are some good books for us moms to read about our pre-teen girls and how to best foster and encourage their development, changes, moods, and selves during this stage in their lives. I'm thinking Surviving Ophelia for one. But I would appreciate feedback on that book, and other books, articles, etc. Thank you!

I got a lot out of Surviving Ophelia. Other books I've found helpful for the preteen and teen years are not specific to girls, but have been useful to me in parenting a girl (with another coming up:

Positive Discipline for Teenagers (great for dealing with the moods and for encouragement in stepping back and letting kids take responsibility for themselves)

Teach Your Children Well and The Price of Privilege by Madeline Levine

Hold On To Your Kids by G. Neufeld

The Available Parent by John Duffy

I also learned a lot about connecting with my tween/teen by reading the Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. It helped me understand how to show her love and how to accept love from her in ways that weren't obvious... and helped me figure out the underlying reasons behind some challenging or annoying behaviors and how to teach her to channel them better. I see that there is an edition specifically for teenagers, but I just read the original book and got plenty from it.

I read Madeline Levine's book The Price of Privilege and found it excellent, bang on how I feel about raising my child.

You can buy Madeline's books and any other here  from http://www.abebooks.com/  often in pristine or good condition

Have you considered getting a Kindle e-book reader? They are so handy, GR8 for travel and are great space savers. I have over 2,000 books on mine.
