Elise Catherine ("Ellie") arrived last night at 7:39 pm, weighing in at 5 pounds 11 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long.
I'd been contracting all day Tuesday, started right about midnight and by 5 or so they were 5 minutes apart. When we got to hospital the doc came in and right away said "so we're having a baby tonight, eh?"
So they prepped me for my section and as we were standing in the hallway outside the OR waiting to go in my water broke! At first I thought I'd wet myself in the hallway and was sort of embarrased, but what can you do?
She came out screaming her head off, had her cord around her neck (just like Avery did), and I am SO glad to not be pregnant anymore! I've had contractions and been dilating since 28 weeks (after terrible m/s for the first 20 weeks).
She's nursing like a champ, no one believes that she's a 36 weeker except that she's tiny (but is bigger than Avery was, who was full term).
I'm doing OK, my uterus isn't contracting down like it should so I'm bleeding pretty heavily and will have to stay in hospital an extra day or so to keep an eye on that, blah.
Avery is very excited to be a big sister, last night when dh held her up to the nursery window (Ellie got supplemental oxygen for about an hour) she knocked on it and said "that's my baby sister! wake up baby sister! i love you!" Ellie looks almost exactly like Avery did but her hair is really dark rather than the reddish that Avery's was.
