I am totally stealing this poll from the August DDC! I love statistics and thought it would be very interesting to see how it panned out for us here. I know (statistically speaking, at least!) it'll be a couple of weeks before ALL of our babes are here, but those of us who have already given birth can go ahead and get it started.

I know there could be a lot more delineation of the various options, but I liked this set and so am gonna stick with it.

I voted unassisted, though it was a planned mw-assisted homebirth and was only unassisted because we called the mws too late. All of the follow-up stuff was assisted.

Oh man, that was a huge fear for me. What's going on? How are you dealing with it?

I am struggling with the dichotomy of being grateful for the option to have a cesarean (Eidie would have not have survived labor), and really f-ing angry that I had to have one. It is better than it was now that I'm back to relative normal (whatever that means, it's redefined after a cesarean), but.... I know I'll never be the same person.

Well, I'm a first time mama, so I'd never be the same either way.

The infection is just really frustrating. I want to be getting better. I don't want to be stuck with a gaping, weeping wound. Or, on antibiotics. :

BIG hugs to all of the c/s mamas! I've been there myself, so I know the feelings all too well. : I've now had two complication-free HBACs, and I know many of the other mamas here have had VBACs, too. I hope you are all (especially the first-time mamas) able to experience that in the future! It is very healing!

Unassisted VBAC in the water! Having a c/s was extremely difficult for me as well, physically and emotionally, and I will always wonder if it was the emergency they claimed it was. It took me a long time to be able to talk about the whole experience, but without, I don't know that I would have developed the passion for birth that I have.

This birth has been very healing for me in many ways, I know your future births can be the same.

Future births CAN be healing, just remember that. Sydney's birth was a much better experience than Allegra's (which was a WORSE experience than Rory's and Tiger's, oddly) and now I want to have another one to heal from my post-partum trip to the hospital.

Anyway...

I've attended two med-free VBACs in the last year, and they were so amazing and empowering for the moms.

I'm excited about this thread because it will be a nice link in the announcements thread...

I had an assisted HB with one of my four MW present (the others didn't make it on time which is fine with me). My MW was an observer of the birth, she really didn't do anything until after.

Healing hugs to you glendora and other mamas who (like Wildecat said) didn't have the experience that you wished for.

I voted c/s- both my girls came via c/s.
And at the risk of being labeled a UAV, the second one was the best c/s ever! I got to experience all the fun I missed out on the first time. I am totally and completely satisfied with my surgical birth and outcome....
