I am teaching a TPR story to teach Spanish and am trying to make it silly and memorable. It is very loosely based on the Mouse Count (Cuenta Ratones) book by Ellen Stoll Walsh only the snake is going to find the sleeping mice and put them in the toilet and then at the end of my story the mice escape & flush the snake down the toilet.

Is "inodoro" the term most used for toilet?

How do you say "they flushed the toilet" ?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, toilet is "inodoro"

"flush the toilet " would be "tirar la cadena del inodoro".
I guess in Mexico instead of "tirar" they would say " jalar",
"jalar la cadena del inodoro"

Hope it helps.

Well here in Mexico they say:
"Le bajamos al baño" or "Le bajaron la cadena al baño"

"inodoro" is not used at all.

it seems I can never find which words to use/teach...

In my silly story...
I want to convey-

The snake looks in the toilet. The mouse flushes the snake.

Depend of the country:
* tirar la cadena
* jalar la cadena

But when you talk about "toilet": some are inodoro, taza del baño, wc (pronounce as: doble v c)

Sometimes I think Spanishy is way more complicate to learn than English, because of the bast of many countries that speak them.

Thanks for all the help! It is so funny to me to have these debates on which words to best use to teach the preschoolers- even with my colors theme, trying to decide which word to use for brown & pink, etc!

My story ended up going over well. Thanks for helping me out!!!!
