I went to my mw last night and was happy to be 1cm and 80% effaced. I let her sweep my membrane and this morning I lost my mucus plug. Been having some pretty irregular light contractions on and off, but I'm not saying I'm in labor yet. Frankly, I have a VERY high tolerance for pain, so I may not know I'm "in labor" until things are really started. Also, I don't even know what to consider a contrax or not because they aren't "painful" and it really could be indigestion (which I get almost every time I eat) heartburn etc. Oh well.... annnnnd we wait.
My doula told me something interesting... to consider the length of the contraction over the timing. If the contractions are 45 seconds or longer, then it's probably the real deal.
Dude, I am so there with you. I refuse to wait for a December baby. I began having thoughts of castor oil today, but I'm afraid because I am home alone and last time the baby came pretty fast and contractions weren't really that painful until towards the end. I thought I had time!
Seriously though, I feel like screaming because the waiting is making me freakin' nuts.
I cannot keep thinking "okay, any time now..." its stressing me out...stressing the kids out....I've never been overdue before!
:
Good luck to you and me both, hope something starts happening down there for the both of us.
i'm right there in the same boat as you -- light, irregular contractions but no progression -- and i'm about to lose my everlovin mind. any second now.
it's time for us november/december straddlers to have these kids!!
OMG, seriously. I've got major baby envy. Plus almost all the threads now are about the new babies and I've got nothing to add to them except "GET THIS BABY OUT OF MEEEEEEE!"
Dudes, I'm right there with ya. Let's get some funnells, tubes and castor oil and see who can take the most- like those college beer parties.
Seriously, I bought a bottle of Castor oil, too, but I haven't had the nerve to try it.
My concern (and maybe you could tell me it's BS) is that it would increase the chances of meconium)
Also, I am not a vomiter. I don't get morning sickness ever and I think maybe some moms might be desensitized to the whole vomiting thing, but not me. It scares me (but labor doesn't, go figure.)
I'm thinking a castor oil enema would work, anyone done that? Then I can just picture myself at the check stand buying an enema. No thank you. Maybe if I pay at the pharmacy.
We're going to go to Babies R Us to get me a new back brace since I've lost or misplaced mine and then to a buffet to get my butt up and moving and then hopefully to the mall or best buy or something because I'm going to do everything possible to convince the little bugger to come soon.
Preferably before the end of the Bush administration...

I wanna snuggle a newborn.....
Ditto! Maybe you should come join us in the overdue thread... I know you're not really overdue, but with everything you went through you had every reason to think you'd have a baby by now... you really are "overdue" for you!
Hope none of our babies wait until December, stubborn little stinkers...

Dead on about the "stubborn little stinkers" moniker. I'm thinking about starting a last-minute campaign to change the name of the Overdue Mamas thread to the "My Baby's a Stubborn Little Butthead" thread
At this point, I'm kind of hoping for Dec. 3rd since that's when my favorite midwife is on call. But this child is a stubborn little butthead, and when he finally gets born, he's going to be about 25 pounds and 3 feet tall.

God, I hope so, my contractions have increased similar to her frequency (every 5-10 minutes) since early this morning, buuuuuut at this point, I think I'd rather just be happy for everyone ELSE having their babies, seeing as how mine apparently doesn't want to come out at all
oh sweetie..........! i'm sooo sorry this is so long for you. you must feel so frustrated. thinking of you.................... HUGS. have you considered homeopathics? that stuff my MW gave me i think kicked it in the next night after the day i took them morning and night. PM me if you would like the kinds they are.
(((HUGS))) I want to be cheerful and say to be positive, at least you have made progress and it's that much less you'll have to do later... but I know how disheartening this must be.
So hang in there, thinking of you and sending you good thoughts instead.
These dang babies can't stay in here forever!!!!!!!!!!
