Hey mamas! I dont know if you all know but the Holiday Helper thread is up in the Trading Post in its own forum. Its pretty slow going.....would several of you Nov mamas like to adopt a family as our own and try and get them some gently used items as well as some gift cards? I would be willing to organize etc....I think it would be cool to all come together like that, even if you only have $4 or $5 extra in your paypal account we could still hook a family up! Tis the season!

OK its a go!

Here are their very attainable needs:

Unfortunately we are in the position of filing chapter 7 because our living expenses exceed my income. It is only me and I have a health issue that costs me alot in insurance and meds, my son also has a medical condition. We have been living, paying essentials through credit thinking it would get better. My dd still believes in Santa, ds wants a bike...We cannot afford new shoes right now let alone holiday gifts I am getting help, but not in time for the holiays.

Gift Certificates

GC-Target, GC-Walmart/Sams, GC-Sears, GC-Grocery - Kroger Stores, GC-Exxon Gas, GC-Gas Card - General / Local,

12 year old DS

LongSleeve
Sweaters
LongUnderwear
Size Mens Small

He likes soccer and basketball, he has a PSP. He is so picky and high needs that he is hard to buy for.

8 year old DD

HeavyCoat
Jacket
LongSleeve
Sweaters
LongPants
Legwarmers
Tights
Size girls 7/8

Winter boots Youth size 2

Wants Crafts or Dress Up costumes

***I will collect PP for anyone that wants to donate and then I will get probably a Target gift card so hopefully she can get what she needs. PM me for my addy.....***

That sounds great Nicole. I've been wanting to do something for the HH but have had difficulty getting around to it. This would be perfect.

Count me in!!! I looked through the list of families but that is as far as I got, I'd love to chip in!

ETA: I have L/XL maternity clothes I could pass along if that helps in making a selection.

ETAA: This babe is so looong I may have some newborn girl/gn clothes to pass along as well.

I'm in.

nak

you know, I looked at the thread a while back and I really don't understand how to be a helper and match myself up. I've got stuff that I can give, but not sure how I can find a family ino the things I actually have so I don't just buy new.

I'm certainly in for a group thing though!

hey, are the may 06 mamas doing one also?

Just wanted to add that PP is easiest for me, but depending on the needs of the family, I might also be able to send them a parcel, because getting packages in the mail is exciting no matter what time of year it is.

I have a couple of things I can send, depending on ages and needs. So count me in.

I had some mamas help me out this year, so I have been doing what I can where I can. I helped sponsor a family on another group by sending things I had on hand and I sent some clothes to a mama who lost her home and only child in a fire earlier this year.

I wanted to add that I know some of you mentioned items that will not fit this family.....it gets harder for families to get help with older children which is why they were chosen for us. I know we can pull it out for them.

ETA: I just made a list of the items you ladies offered, like the CD's etc and I am working on matches now outside this family. I will PM you w/ addys of where to send. Thank you!

I'll look and see if I have anything for the son, but I think I will have to send PP instead.

I have a funky knit scarf that an 8 year old might like... those cute, colorful, fluffy ones. I'll send one or two.

I have another scarf too if another family with a 7-18 year old daughter is in need.

ALSO ... My mom wanted to help a family so I am sending this info to her too so she can make or buy something for each kid.

She and I plan to gather things during 2008 that we can use to sponsor families next Christmas too. It's been so much fun and if buying for other families is the only way I get to spoil a girl....

Hope I don't get in trouble, but I thought this was a great idea, so I sent a note to other DDCs to adopt a family of their own

I sent PP to cover the boy, but will let you know if I find something for him. I can't afford to buy anything, but will look thru what I have and ask a friend of mine too.

Count my mom out, she donated to the church so she's done for the year she says.

Can't afford much, but I want to send some pp for this family. I am a 'graduated' MIN from previous years and we're going it alone this year, so I am glad to be able to even help a little as I have been helped. I will send you some PP, Nicole.
