We use nicknames so much, their real names actually feel awkward rolling off my tongue at times.

Jack is Monkey, Monks, Pooks, Pooker, 'Licious, 'Lishy Loo, Loo, Big Brother or just Brother (and these are just the ones we use now, I don't think I can even remember all the old ones)

Logan is GeeGee (with a hard "g", from the sounds he made as an infant), Geegs, Geeger, Geeger Pie, Pie, Pie Pie, Little Brother or Brother

Lets see...

My oldest is Zooberflute. (wife came up with that one, don't remember how. )

My youngest is Boo. I came up with that (very original, I know) Any Mario 64 fans out there? During the first few days home from the hospital, he would make this ghostly little noises, much like the ghosts from Mario, Boo. Hence, he is my little Boo.

Well, this is sort of like coming out of the closet. Our dd's nickname is "Chicken". Which isn't really that bad, but we are strict vegetarians here...not sure how it started, but she's our "chicken" and we can't seem to break it. I was my parents' roach until I was about 16 yo so "chicken" seems soft and kind compared to that, right?

Oh, and pre-natally we refused to call her 'baby' or 'it' (didn't know the sex), so my father-in-law named our developing child "The Twiddlebot", which is what was called her until birth.

I call my DD : (darling dog, that is, no kids yet) whose name is Jane: boo, poodle (she's a husky), bee, ba-boo, munchkin, or monkey. there must be something about monkey and boo that are easy to say and cross over species.

Other nicknames for little ones in my family have included: Boo or Bootsie (this stuck with my aunt until this day, she's in her 60's), Gubby, and Stee (Stephanie, shortened to Stevie, shortened to Stee).

This is a great thread. It's interesting to see the variety of nicknames everyone comes up with.

Our ds was Psy-Duck or Duck until he was born because his first sono pictures looked like a duck.

Now I call him Little Man, Little One, Sweatpea, Punkin, Fussy Baby, Naked, Bottom Naked, and Yoda.

Dh calls him (the ever-popular) Monkey, Rat, Little Man, Hungry Baby, Baby Boy, and Beezlebug.

We have more interesting names for ds's toys than for him. We have a Mr. Smiley-Face Jingle-Pants, a Mr. Wallbanger (a rabbit whose first name is Harvey), Princess Frank, and Douglas the Fox.

Elizabeth - 33. Mother to ds 12-19-04 and ds 01-27-12. new tadpole due 05-25-14
