Be honest.

What do you think of the name Davan?

Boy? Girl? Either?

Opinions or just 'like it' 'don't like it' answers are great.

Partner to :Jessica(??) papa to Jake(7) and : Kaiya (2)

The title excludes me and possibly some others on this board. But I'll answer anyway

Davan? I'd assume a boy. I'm not a big fan--not really a name. Curses the child to a life of "no, D-A-V-A-N" you know?

Sounds good! Could go for boy or girl -

Meaning=The beloved, the adored one. Feminine form of David.
Origin:Irish
Gender:Girl

It sounds like a perfect soap opera name:

"I saw the ghost...he said he loves me...(sobb)it was Davan...I was wrong to kill him (SOBB)...(eyes widen) or maybe it was really him...(sobb)!

(Davan enters room) "Yes, it is me...I survived your attempt to kill me with the rabid Chihuahuas, but...(sobb) I still love you."

OK - now I KNOW I need more sleep!

My husband says it sounds masculine to him.

He also says "i'm foreign, so how can i give opinions on names?"

Not a fan of most Irish names myself. It's an okay name.

Its different but good. My first impression is a boy's name, but it would make a good girl's name as well.

I always think this: "Names are cute when a kid is kid.........but how is that sucker gonna look on a business card? A job application?"

If you want to name the kid Davan, that's cool. But maybe make it a middle name. And if your name is Christopher or Stephen or something more normal, run with that as a first name.

As a kid you can call him Davan to distinguish the two of you. But if he hates it at 23 he can go with his first name.

We did this with "James Thoreau" (Options include James, Jamey, JT, Thoreau). See, I got to give him a cool middle name and a sane, responsible, first one. And if we have another boy we're going with "Theordore Wesley" (This opens up Theodore, Ted, Theo, Teddy, Wesley, and Wes).

What do you call a kid whose name is Davan? It means he's always stuck with Davan (well, maybe "Dave".........hmmmm........). You certainly can't call him "Van" or "Davino" or anything.

Cute, cool, nifty names are nice for children but they can suck for adults. Give your kid a name that doesn't make him sound like a perpetual five year old.

Not sure if it's for a girl or boy.

I asked DH. He replied, "DAYVAN??" with a semi-snarl on his face.

Me either.

He'll spend his life having to spell it for people, and having it pronounced DAY-Van, or DuhVon or something worse.
