UPDATED: I updated these with the results after everyone is having their baby. If anyone wants to add theirs just let me know.

Just curious how long you were TTC this baby or if it was a surprise baby? Just out of pure curiosity.
Now updated with baby's gender since we noticed a big coincidence of TTC=boy Surprise=girl (so far?).

Because I'd been charting for 6 months I knew my cycle very well. (NFP) and when we made the decision it was time.. it only took one try. I was planning on it taking a couple of months still, so the pregnancy confirmation totally BLEW me out of the water!

Eternal Companion to DH , Homeschooling mama to DS 05/04 , DS 11/05 , DD 12/07 , DS 07/10 and one on the way: June 2015!

Neither. We were going to start trying in June, but made a spur of the moment decision not to use protection. We'd been saving money and making plans for a baby for over a year, so the baby was definitely NOT unplanned. I hate using the word accident when referring to a human being, whether or not the pregnancy was unintended.

Mama to DS1 (12/07), DS2 (4/11), and DD (6/22/14)
Finally diagnosed with APS after 3 s (11/09, 3/10, 7/13)

You are right!! I never thought about it. Maybe we should change it to surprise! I think I will, thanks for pointing that out.

We tried with charting for 9 months. If we hadn't gotten pregnant when we did, we would have made an appointment with the Dr. the next month to see what was going on. I'm glad it didn't come to that.

We tried for 5 cycles before I went to ovulation predictor tests and that worked the first time. I have never tried for any of my kids and they were all conceived with one oops, so waiting 5 cycles seemed like punishment!

Anyone notice so far the surprises are girls and the planned ones are boys? Hmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe everyone could list the gender if you know it too and we could have a little experiment!

Ha!! Maybe that's the key... hmm... sounds like I'll need to get better at charting and "planning" if I ever want a boy.

We did what we've always done... not officially TTC, but not trying to avoid... we like to go with the flow, and so far it's worked for us.

The planning/gender thing would be a very interesting coincidence.

We had talked about TTC in August (of this year!), though I'm not sure DH was convinced. We had a really rough winter, relationship-wise, so our "make-up" turned into an April Fool's on us! (Our 1x dtd was April 1 ) I guess it made dating the pregnancy easy!

We have another suprise baby, but very much wanted and talked about. Our main goal to wait until I was done with art school. But I found out after my big deal thesis oral that I was pregnant. It was super hard to have the energy and focus to finish school after that, but I made it!!
We were going to try for a baby this summer, I think if we waited for the pefect time this baby would never have been made. There is no perfect timing. But I truly feel that this baby was patiently waiting for me to be done with school. I have had bad baby fever for the past 3 years. Since we don't really use any birth control it is pretty amazing it worked out as well as it did. DD has been waiting a long time for a sibling. We couldn't be happier.

We were trying but I was nursing so I wasn't counting on anything. I had had AF back for 10 months but that was my first cycle without a luteal phase defect.

with this baby we were trying a whole year ..... !! i was getting used to it not happening then out of nowhere it did! the doctor was even doing blood tests on me every month to check i was releasing an egg!! because my first baby i conceived within 3 mths of no protection. Sadly ended in M/C then 3 mths after the M/C i was pregnant again (at easter) then sadly again ended in M/C..... then a whole year of no protection and OPKs and trying trying trying but nothing... then Easter monday we got the big positive when we due to go for even more extensive tests on the friday !!!! lol ..... crazy how it works out .. and your theory suggests its a boy .. how crazy if that theory really is true? ive heard something like that before as well ... but our little one would not cooperate at the scan so even though we wanted to know the sex ... we havent a clue !

We were trying for almost 13 months. I had been charting since May 2006-Feb 2007. Feb. and March I also used a fertility monitor, with March only using a monitor and no charting (the charting was making me a wreck). Used Preseed as well. I'm pretty sure we conceived the day we closed on our house

Needless to say, very planned and very grateful that I didn't need further assistance. That was coming up on the horizon.

I was still nursing so didn't think I'd get pg so quickly.... so I guess it was kinda a surprise, but we planned on really trying in June or July. Just a little earlier than we wanted Oh AF just returned also

Af returned in January while nursing we went 3 cycles before getting pregnant! I was surprised I thought it would take much longer since I was nursing and my cycles were way off it was hard for me to tell when I would O.

Hmmm... it wasn't a surprise, but it also wasn't planned. I'm very regular and knew when I would more then likely conceive, usually we did the pull and pray or he got cut off for a week. But we didn't that time. I told dh that we were going to get pregnant, and of course we did.

As for the theory of boy= TTC girl = surprise. I've heard that the boy sperm are really fast swimmers compared to the girl, but that they die off quickly. Where as the girls are slow but survive longer. If the woman has ovulated already it will be a boy, if its one or two days before ovulation then it will be a girl.

It was wanted but not really planned - we decided it wouldn't be a bad thing to get pregnant, didnt use protection a couple of times and ended up conceiving right away.

OK so I made a list of us and if we were TTC or not. Then I used the December Roll Call thread to see if it was a boy or girl or not finding out. So far the "theory" is correct for those of us who know! This is really interesting!! Anyone else find this odd? What a surprise discovery... wonder if it has any merit? I'm sure there will be a few soon to prove it wrong. Let's see!

(oh and if I have info wrong please let me know!

Add me to the surprise girl list. I actually was using FAM to avoid & found out that I'm technically infertile due to luteal phase defect and other issues. (I RARELY ovulate and when I do I get my period within a couple days so that a fertilized egg can't implant. Plus my cervical fluid is always so dry that it's a hostile environment for sperm!) Anyway one weekend after we were a bit lax about protection... I had a lot of ovulatory cervical fluid and then BAM ovulated and now here I am!
