Imagine what the Pregnancy Police would say if they knew I've gone through 2lbs of hot cocoa powder in the last two months?:

I'd So be arrested. :nana:

I have two - but I justify this because I mix half regular, half decaf :

Mama to DS (12/11/07) and partner to DH (08/08). Expecting #2 late November 2011!

I had a red dye #40 party/buffet last night. Included an 8 oz bag of Swedish fish and HUGE cup of red Gatorade.

BTW...I had to share this with you: There is a label on the Swedish fish bag that says:

I would say "I DO need salt because Iodine is an essential mineral for thyroid function."

So give me my damn salt

A recent conversation in a coffeee emporium I refuse to name:

jackass: "Uh, decaf still contains caffeine"
me: "They taught you that in barista school?"
jackass: "I just figured since pregnant women aren't supposed to have caffeine..."
me: "If you were paid to figure you'd know that a rapid withdrawal from caffeine would only screw with my adrenal glands and compromise my health and my baby's more than a serving of caffeine ever could. But since you're not paid to figure, you're paid to fill my order, why don't you get on that?"

I love New York.

I am so glad to hear I'm not the only coffee drinker! It is my every-morning routine- get my cup up coffee & sit here to enjoy our ddc. I sit here this very moment with my coffee in my lovely purple mug in front of me, excited to read up on everything I missed all night (& morning, being on the west coast & all).

I have been eating chocolate WAY more than I normally do, & way more than I normally ever have during pregnancy! I certainly do get more lax with each pregnancy...

And on a major way off topic side note-- Almost no one ever says anything to me during my pregnancies like you guys have gone through. No one has EVER said a word about all the coffees I've bought in cafes & carried around with me, or the raw milk I buy or my breastfeeding in public (with my giant pregnant belly hanging out!) or anything else I can think of. People just don't make comments to me but I know it's because they think I'm scary looking or they're just too distracted by staring at me to even really notice what I'm doing. What with my crazy-long fire engine red dreads & facial piercing & such I think maybe they can sense my inner demon. I would SO tell someone to shove it if they told me I shouldn't be doing this or that while pregnant. Or else they just can't get over how freakish I look to actually speak to me. But it works out fine for me!!

Mmmm. Sushi. We nearly went to get some while we were on vacation (Elliot LOVES sushi) but I was scared someone would get in my face about it, and I didn't want to eat something else from their normal food menu.

Weirdly, the only thing I've actually gotten crap about was wanting to take a shower after my prenatal massage -- massage oil gets to my skin if I don't wash it off. Apparently, according to the half-trained teenager on the phone, hydrotherapy isn't allowed for pregnant women and unless I got a signed and notarized letter from my care provider specifically giving permission they wouldn't allow me to use their facilities.

Yeah. You should have SEEN my midwife's face when I walked in and asked for a permission slip to take a shower.

I got slack at the coffee shop, but I was actually ordering for our meeting at work, I bought a gallon of mocha and a few six-shotters and some double latte's , and I actually wasn't getting myself anything but they guy at the window was like "WOW- I hope this isn't all for you." I didn't think it was a rude comment, I thought it was sarcastic, so I said Yes, it's all for me, I'm drinking for two" and he laughed.

I do drink a cup a day of coffee, it's a ritual. And YES the cup is enormous, but it;s still just a cup.

According to LLL or ACOG or something official like that, moderate coffee drinking, which amounts to 1 pot a day, is OK. Can you imagine drinking a whole pot of coffee? Maybe if I did I wouldn't be so tired. I just wouldn't want to pee that much.

I was in Trader Joe's doing my Thanksgiving shopping and came to the wine section. My DD asked what I was doing and I said picking out some wine honey.

A lady next to me said "of course that's not for you!"
Me - "just a small glass with dinner!"
Lady - "don't they have non-alcoholic wine?" and starts looking for it.
Me - "Yes, but it tastes terrible. Anyway, I'm only 2 weeks away from my due date so I don't think a glass of wine will hurt him any." (still smiling and being sweet mind you!)
Lady - "I would think this would be the worst time to drink!"
Me - realizing that this lady is an idiot I say "Well, other people are going to be drinking wine at my house so I'm buying this." and I walked off.

This is the only time anyone has said anything to me about anything but I was in total shock. She was so clueless!!
