So, DH and I talked about names last night and it turns out he doesn't like any of my boy names. This is going to be a long six months.

I am looking for a boy's name that means joy. I love nature names, and don't want anything too ordinary. Boys names are so hard!! If it's a girl the name will be joy. I was doing some hard thinking in the months of TTC and was thinking one day why do I really want kids and this is what I came up with: Joy. Kids are pure joy. They make me happy. So, that's the name. By a funny coincidence our midwife's name is Joy......I wonder how we managed that.

Canadian mama to A (C/S May 2004) and R (induced VBAC Dec 2007) expecting #3 in July.  Currently obsessing over permaculture, photography and beekeeping.

Since I see you're a yogini. . .

How about Ashoka? It's the Sanskrit name of a famous Buddhist king who preached non-violence. It means "without sorrow". Another possibility is Ananda. I hear it used for girls a lot, but it was originally a boy's name. It means "bliss".

In modern Indian languages they leave the -a off, so "Ashok" and "Anand" are also options.

Hope this helps!

For a girl we really like Keona Elizabeth, but have changed our minds numerous times at this point. Im hawaiian and like that keona would bring some of that heritage.

The boy name is proving to be alot harder...

We had a boy name picked out for 6 years.. Noah. But then one of his cousins had a baby last year and stole our name last minute. We didnt even mention it to them because they had already supposedly picked Samuel and we didnt want to give them any ideas.. then .. wham. We have had that name picked since the mom was in middle school for crying out loud.

We still toy with the idea of using it because the cousins will probably meet less then a handful of times in their life. What would you do if you had been set on a name for so long that had alot of meaning to you and then someone in your family used it?

No other boy name is resonating with us.. we have half hearted a short list of:
Ezekiel
Ian
Issac
Jonas - my 1st pick behind noah..
