Since I'm not a big tea drinker (or coffee or beer for that matter), would it hurt anything to add a bit of honey to sweeten it up a bit? I've been brewing w/ Rose Hips too, which seems to help the taste some...

in the Tribe section, there is a RRL tribe. It's long, but it has all the info you could ask for in it. And, yes, it is okay to add to it.

I would think it would be just fine.....what harm could honey do? But I think you are right to wonder and now I am also!

I really like putting lemon in mine and have wondered about that......

I asked about the honey on one of those pages and a few people said it was okay! It's a natural sweetener. I just don't think you are suppose to take honey raw while pregnant, but then again, they were mentioning honey sticks while in labor for energy.

I add agave nectar to mine. I don't think it should be a problem. I'll ask my midwife when I see her tomorrow, though. She hand-mixes the RRL tea for me and so I'm hoping she'll know.

I use organic pure cane syrup to sweeten mine because I let it steep overnight and sweeten the next day when it is cooled. Honey doesnt mix as well for me.

Also, if you dont like the taste, mix it with something you do like the taste of. I use red rooibois.

I use honey to sweeten my RRL tea, especially the batches that I add nettle to.

I take RRL capsules, because I don't drink tea. You might try those if you don't care for the taste. I get them from here: https://www.vitacost.com/Natures-Ans...Raspberry-Leaf

I took them last time too.

That's a great alternative to know about. I'm hoping I don't have enough time to order/get them

I enjoy a nice hot cup of sweetened tea, actually. I just can't do much unsweetened, of any type of tea.

I talked to my MW last night and she assured me that adding a sweetener to RRL tea will not diminish its effectiveness in the least.

Happy tea drinking!

My big RRL tea question is this:
If you're supposed to brew a really strong batch for 3-4 hours and then drink as hot as possible when you go into labour, how exactly do you time this?? I don't know when I will go into labour, if I wait to make the tea until I am in labour it will be too late, but I'm not going to make tea everyday until the baby decides to show up....
Even if it's cold and then you heat it up, you'd be making tea every couple of days.
I think I'm missing something here...
I've read about half of the pages in the RRL tribe thread, and just can't figure it out. Maybe it's my preggy brain acting up again...

g.

Canadian mama to A (C/S May 2004) and R (induced VBAC Dec 2007) expecting #3 in July.  Currently obsessing over permaculture, photography and beekeeping.
