My hospital bag is only half-packed - I haven't had the energy to finish the job. But I think we're down to the last little bits:

- set up co-sleeper
- put carseat into van
- get swing from sil
- buy a nursing pillow
- finish packing hospital bag
- buy snacks for hospital, and homeopathic Arnica for post partum
- GET HEALTHY BEFORE GOING INTO LABOUR!!!!!!!!!

There, I think that's it.

Bobbi, wife to dh love.gif and mom to dd1 (6-6-04) blahblah.gif, ds (4-1-06) nut.gif, and dd2 (1-18-08) flower.gif. Welcoming our newest ds babyboy.gif (11-24-10)!

I am feeling ready. Just ordered a birth kit and car seat. I could use a few more meals put away in the freezer, but I won't sweat that. I should wash the hand-me-downs and cloth diaper, but that is an easy task.

All the big stuff is done. Whew! Now just to chill and enjoy these next few weeks till baby comes.

All I need to do is make up the two meals I have planned for the freezer and put the baby's clothes in the dresser (they are already washed). Then we pick up the birth pool next weekend. Other than that, everything is ready.

Ha I have so much to do it is not even funny. I am 35 weeks and haven't had a baby shower yet. My sister and best friend are planning it. In fact I just found out when it is by accident. Its the 20th and I am due the 29th. So I held off buying anything because of the shower, but my boyfriend and i are going to buy the carseat this week and i have a cradle, some diapers and tons of clothes given to me by friends whose babies have grown out of. Now I just got to pack the hospital bag!

Ugh, I need some motivation! Anyone have any extra?

I still need to:

* put baby clothes away...somewhere
* install car seat
* make more than one diaper or buy some for back up
* pack hospital bag
* find someone to watch ds while I'm in the hospital (they don't allow children in the mother/baby unit....nice place)
* sterilize breast pump hoses and what not
* take down the christmas decorations (maybe not necessary for the baby, but if I don't they'll probably be up until Valentine's day!)
* make meals for the freezer (okay, I'll be realistic here, buy some frozen meatballs and pre made crock pot meals because I hate to cook and dh is busy these days chasing ds because I feel like I can hardly move!)

That's it. I'm not going to even try to think of any more. I keep thinking this baby is going to be such a small little person that there can't be that much she'll actually need (quite the opposite of how I felt before ds was born). It's hard to get motivated when I know that technically she could wear a disposable diaper and be wrapped in a blanket and be fine. But I've had so much fun picking out dress patterns and cutting fabric for diapers...

I've slowly been doing things. I think the only thing left is installing the infant car seat (I washed all the coverings and stuff) and washing my nursing pillows. I lanolized all the wool covers I made and washed all the diapers and clothes and put everything away. I've put all the things I need for the actual birth in one corner (towels, protective sheets, birth kit and baby blankets/first hats/clothes). I'm having the baby at home so I guess there's really not that much to plan or figure out because I'll be here.

I'm finally getting stuff done! DH is gone to visit family in PA, so I spent the last three day steam cleaning our entire house (SOOOO gross, ick, ick, ick!) and having all the furniture moved. We finally have our baby room now, so the list can get going!

* set up crib
* sew curtain for window
* put up other curtain
* put together bouncy seat
* buy & install car seat
* wash newborn/0-3 clothes
* pack baby bag
* pack bag for me
* talk to DH about his bag
* talk to DH about labor
* set up co-sleeper

Mom to DD born Jan. 08 and DS born Oct. 09, and "baby sister" due Oct 2013!

i ran out of motivation weeks ago. i've been getting little things done here and there:

- bag is packed, with a list tucked on top of it for last minute items that will be in use until we leave the house
- we had to buy a car and that is DONE - yipee!
- i'm letting dp put the carseat in, and he can do it after the baby is born for all i care. at some point he'll need something else to do instead of watch me
- made up an ordered list (with phone numbers) of who to call to help out with dd during labor, and a list of who to call afterward
- diapers and clothes are ready to go, carrier and slings are washed

everything that feels necessary is d.o.n.e., but there are many extras that i could do, maybe even should do, that i have no motivation for. maybe i'll have a burst of pre-labor nesting and rock some stuff out then?

My list is getting encouragingly smaller. Here's what's left:

Finish sewing the last 6 size small diapers
Sew ring sling from short Girasol wrap
Finish assembling 200 hand-stamped/pieced baby announcements (they're about 1/2 done)
Address/stamp baby announcement envelopes
Get lots of rest

You gals have inspired me! I need to get it written down or I may forget something!
  • Install car seat bases
  • Finish address list for Announcements
  • Figure out where I'm going to print them (self designed)
  • START sewing dust ruffle and curtains (and hopefully finish )
  • Pack bag for hospital
  • Get place organized/cleaned for guests and my sanity
  • Find PT daycare

All of this should be easier to accomplish once I'm on maternity leave, but I move so slow these days who knows!!

MamaFern - Massage DH gave me a spa gift certificate for Christmas!! I can't wait to use it!

This probably won't be complete, thanks to preggo-brain:

1. Pack hospital bag
2. Stencil/finish decorating baby's bedroom
3. Finish clearing clutter out of master closet and take stuff to Goodwill.
4. Get hospital pre-reg paperwork in (oops...was supposed to do this 2 weeks ago)
5. Install car seat
6. Cook more freezer meals (I totally petered out on that)

Really, I think that's it. The cloth diapers (which I may not use right away) are washed and ready to go. Her clothes are washed and ready to go. I think we're just about ready.

I got a lot of stuff done, so this is what's left:

- pack hospital bag (um, yeah, maybe I should do that sometime soonish...)
- finish the downstairs bathroom (not gonna happen in time)
- find an acceptable boy name
- make up a list of people who need to be notified

That should be about it, I think...

I can never seem to motivate myself to check items off my list- until I get a few hours of "false" labour and then I'm a whirlwind of vacuming, cooking and packing.

Too much to do!

- Buy a carseat (going tomorrow or Monday)
- Install carseat
- Finish picking out music and visuals for birth center bag
- Pack birth center bag
- Find a coming home outfit
- Wash baby clothes/blankets
- Rearrange DD's dresser to make room for baby clothes/blankets
- Figure out the CD situation (I have lots of covers but very few diapers)
- Clean house really really well
- Make new sling/wrap
- PICK OUT A GIRL NAME!

Where is my nesting urge?

I think I have lists for lists.

1. Pack a bag. : (I did this is labor with my second but I am trying to be more prepared this go around, so far no such luck)

2. Finish (okay start) his layette. I am knitting him longies, a kimono, hat and booties. Ahem, and I have yet to start. (I've been sick that my "excuse")

3. Wash all dipes and lanolize all wool

4. Buy things like, oh, anything....LOL I want a pack and play so I have somewhere to change him. A crib mattress for the side car crib, a bouncy seat and/or a swing would be fantastic so I can cook and/or shower or perhaps even put him down for a moment without thing1 and thing2 pouncing on him.

5. Buy a baby book to take so that we can get footprints

I know that there is more but my list is alllll the way over there and I am allll the way over here.

OK....list time! I need to:

Pack bag for birth (which will include the night shirt I purchased today)

Find dd's original carseat in the attic and install it

Remind dd to get my car inspected & oil changed

Wash newborn outfits/blankets/covers for swing/wrap

Make CD for birthing

Review hypnobirthing relaxation techniques with dh

I'm sure there is so much more, especially with regards to packing the birth bag. I'm planning to stay at home for as long as possible, but I also want to make sure that I have what I need for post-partum as well. Plus, I am such a picky eater that half my bag will likely be food related :

Good luck accomplishing the lists!!!

Happy Mommy to one amazing girl (6y) and one sweet boy (2y), and wife to DH since 7/03 : :
