Eli's ped dr recommended Poly Vi Sol or Tri Vi Sol drops for him so he gets Vitamin D. We can't get outside to get a good dose of sunlight since it's cold and lots of snow on the ground with more on the way. Anyone else using?

DS just had his first appt. and the dr. wanted us to put him on the Poly Vi Sol. It has fluoride in it and I don't want DS to have fluoride because of what overexposure to it can do. I'm focusing on him getting the vitamins he needs from the food he eats (and when the baby comes I'll be more conscious of what I'm eating so it gets to him via bm) rather than a supplement with a bunch of things I don't think are healthy.

DS dr wanted Tri-vi-sol at 2 months... I never did. He was born in Nov.. not much outdoor time.

Babies need 15 min a week of sunlight for vitaminD. (LC and LLL leader told me that).

I really truly believe that even a winter baby can get enough vitamin D through sunlight through a window, or a quick outdoor trip.

We added vitamin D to our girls 'diet' of BM when they were newborn. Both girls were winter babies and we live in (southwestern) Canada.

Only 15 minutes per week? I swear the dr said 15 minutes a day. Maybe I mis heard her. I know she said vitamin d wasn't passed via bm.
