I know this film has been talked about on other areas of MDC but wanted to know if anyone else in our due date club has seen this? I saw the film tonight and really enjoyed it. I loved seeing all the babies being born!

Where was it aired? PBS? A cable network? Can it be seen if missed?

I got to see it last month and really enjoyed it!! Much of what was said in it about the medical community I already knew but it was still so nice to see all of the Mama's homebirthing. My DP came with me and really enjoyed it also. A must see!

I have seen it as well. Our local birth network and ICAN hosted the screening I attended and another group hosted another. It will not be released until March on NetFlix, I believe. If you have the opportunity to see it, please do, it's great. It's just really nice to see something that portrays birth as it really is instead of the Baby Story type.

It's not screening in the Twin Cities until January, but I'm planning on seeing it, and bringing DH and my friends along, too. Can't wait to see it; the trailer alone made me cry (not that that is hard to do these days )

I'm seeing it on Friday! It's being shown for free as part of a nurse midwives conference.

It also came to our local arthouse theater in October, but somehow I didn't find out until afterwards.

It's being shown in small venues in major cities but from what I understand, you can try to organize a viewing by contacting them. Here is the website:
http://www.thebusinessofbeingborn.com/ And doulanichole mentioned it will be available later through NetFlix.

I agree that much of the info are things many of us already know from reading Ina May, Henci Goer, Odent, etc but I still learned some new information like the evolution of maternity wards (i.e. tying a drugged pregnant woman down to a bed be left to labor alone in a while often left in her own urine and feces, ...wtf?)
But it's an enlightening resource for someone that might be clueless about birth and interventions (example my in-laws!!)

Either way, it's an awesome film and I loved seeing all the women's journeys. I want to talk about what you all thought of the ending but I don't want to spoil it.
