I have the same question!

My midwife prescribed me vit c powder 2x/day but even after studying the label I can't tell how much is in a spoonful.

I know it is water soluble so we just pee out what we don't need... but I don't know about pregnancy.

I asked mw and she said it was OK to take 1-2 tabs a day or even "Emergen-C" if needed. I had some vague recollection that high vit C started contractions but she had never heard of that... HTH!

You can safely take a lot. Each EmergenC packet is 1,000mg, and if I'm sick I take 3 packets a couple times a day. The concern about contractions is probably because if you take more than your body can handle at once, it gives you some loose BMs, which might set off some cx's. Maybe start taking 2 packets at a time, like 2-3 times a day, and see how your body handles it.

At this point in pregnancy it's fine to take normal amounts. Very large amounts in early pregnancy can cause miscarriage, but I think you have to take quite a lot even then, and it doesn't have that affect later in pregnancy. I take 500mg a day in addition to my prenatal for an immune system boost.

you can, but there is such a thing as too much. MIL loves to talk about how she took a lot with her third, and then the baby had somewhat of a vit c dependancy she was told. Don't know if it is true.

I say trust your taste buds! If you feel like eating gads and gads of organic oranges, chances are- you need more vit C.

Due with number 5 in August. We do all that crunchy stuff.
