Since Squish, DD, was born it just has been one thing one thing one thing... now its Snuggle Bear, DP, going back to work. He was able to talk his work into giving him 4 more days because my father passed away 2 days after Squish was born. Its just too soon. I want to cry, I want to do anything to have him here with me I am not ready to have two kids, one sick, the other one two weeks old, and be home alone... mer. I want to hide in bed, and not come out... really I would do anything to make me stay, to have him work from home, to have him here to love and help me.

Am I the only one?

that is a lot to deal with. so sorry about your dad. i know i feel overwhelmed withthe 2 kids by myself sometimes. especially since your dd is sick, just try to rest and take it easy. nrver mind the house work. i will always choose a nap over the dishes and yet somehow they always get done eventually!

Sounds like you have a lot of emotions going on, with good reason. It will get easier!!!! you'll be an old pro soon enough.

I second esmlranchs suggestion, forget about the housework. Just focus on yourself & the kids! although sometimes, cleaning is my outlet!!

Do you have any other family around? friends? that can come sit with you? so you don't feel so alone?
hang in there!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. Of course you are feeling emotional and needing to be taken care of.
Anticipating your first day alone with the new baby and older child(ren) is always the worst. My dh only had a week off after Teddy was born, and I totally cried when he went back to work, but you know what, we did okay. You'll be fine. Just don't put any pressure on yourself to actually get stuff done beyond feeding the baby, your other LO, and yourself. Oh, and diaper changes. LOL. I hope the weather is nice where you live, so you can sit out in the sunshine a little bit; I know it always cheers me up to be able to be outside.

So sorry to hear about your father. That's a lot to deal with at one time - it's natural to feel a little overwhelmed.

Today is my first day alone (at least, my first first whole day) and I was a little worried too - but so far it has been just fine. One thing that I have found to help on a practical level is using a sling - with new dd in the sling I can get stuff done, even if she's awake and wanting attention. Also, I allow myself extra time to do things - e.g. starting dinner half an hour earlier - just in case I have to take a baby break.

Just remember that you are totally justified in taking it easy this week - let dh do some of the housework, order pizza, and get some rest!

Today is my first day alone as well. I have NEVER been around babies, so this is all completely foreign to me. Every little sound and movement has me on high alert. I am recovering from a c/s and also have 2 very needy dogs as well. I am trying to figure out what I can do to stay home permantly and not go bbankrupt.

You must have so many emotions running trough you right now. Do you hav someone you can call? A friend/neighbor/community member? Our hospital even had post partum depression counselors available to call. please talk to someone - you need to know you aren't alone.
