I'm looking for a book club that deals with natural parenting books, but I haven't found any active ones. Is anyone interested in starting one with me?

I just came on here to see if there was a thread for Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves. I just started reading it and was thinking how nice it would be to discuss it with others.
I am always reading parenting books, so would love to join this club.

I am reading Unconditional Parenting right now.

I want to get that other book. Now I just need money or a fairy Godmother.

Why don't we introduce ourselves while we wait on the folks that still don't have the book? I'll start:
I'm a SAHM slowly turning into a diaper making WAHM in South Florida. My two boys are 3 and 9 months old. With DS1 I didn't practice AP. He did sleep in the same room, but I did subject him to CIO a few times. Then I started reading about AP and it really appealed to me. SO with DS2 we have coslept up until now and I hope to nurse him until he's 2 and perhaps beyond.
I'm prone to panic attacks, and with this last baby I ended getting PPD. I'm doing better now that I'm taking Zoloft. Part of my problem is that I tend to want to control everything, and well, with kids you just can't do that. So I hope this book will teach me how to move from being a controlling mother to a more gentle attached one.
Other little tidbits: I am fluent in Spanish and somewhat proficient in German.

I just picked my copy up at the library! Are we going to go chapter by chapter? That might make it a little easier to get a discussion going?

As for introductions: I'm a new mom (baby Jack arrived 12/23/08) on maternity leave until August (I'm a middle school teacher). We're co-sleeping, breastfeeding, wearing the baby...all that AP stuff. I happened upon the label by chance, and now I'm in the process of learning everything I can about how to do this parenting thing "right"... at least right according to what feels right to us (I'm a wee bit obsessive and I love to read!). I've done some mindfulness training (Jon Kabat Zinn style), and I anticipate that those skills and practices are going to come in handy in nurturing this little guy (and his future brothers and sisters). I'm also new to MDC, and I'm happy to have found a place to spend some time while at home on these long, dark days.

I just ordered the book and will have it in 5-8 days.
DD just turned 1 year last month : and I went back to work 80 % last week . I'm a special ed teacher working in a group home setting.
But now it's DH's turn and I feel good about that. He's home until August and we will see where we go from there. We are lucky to live in a country with generous parental leave.
We co-sleep, breastfeed, baby-wear and generally have had an AP attititude before we knew it was called AP. I want to do what feels right for my family, I love to learn and am really looking forward to this group.

I`m in! I have the book, and have read it before. But I`ll ead it once more, with you guys.

I`m a single, Norwegian SAHmama with a 7,5 YO LoveBug. He is in second grade now. I`ve been an Attached parent all his life, more or less. (Discovered that what I did had a name when he was around 6 months.)
I`m the administrator of Norways first AP messageboard, and love to read and discuss topics that involve AP, gentle discipline and raising happy, healthy children.

I'm Chessa, SAHM to Silas T., who is 2 1/2. I got into reading about AP when I was pregnant and my interest in it has continued to evolve. We're now sort of aimed in the direction of radical unschooling, which I think has a lot of the same characteristics of AP, just taking it more explicitly beyond the infant/toddler stage. I've heard mixed reviews of this book, so I'm very curious to see what all the fuss is about. We purchased it (along with a stack of other parenting/unschooling books) with some holiday money - we're total book-a-holics here! I live in Seattle and my partner works in community college administration - I trained as a librarian, but graduated grad school when I was 8 months pregnant so never really got to be an *official* librarian.

Personally I think a chapter by chapter approach makes the most sense - do we want to do a chapter a week? More? Less? I'm pretty open, and a pretty quick reader (my dude still naps!), so I can go either way.

Looking forward to the discussion!

I'm Allie, mostly SAHM (I work about 3 days a month) to DD who will be 2 at the end of the month. Before I was pregnant I knew I would have a midwife attended birth. Well from the midwife, I learned about the Mothering magazine and our Bradley instructor. And from our Bradley instructor I learned about the Baby Book by Dr Sears. DH and I found it so helpful, because we really had no idea what we were getting into with a newborn. I'm so thankful we read that book first and not some more conventional parenting book.
I love to read and have read many parenting books. And I too feel myself drawn to the CL/US lifestyle.

And I'd be good with a chapter a week.

I got the book in the mail yesterday! I read half of Chapter 1 last night after DD went to sleep.
Should we start a new thread for each chapter when we're ready to start discussing?

Hi! I'll go start a new thread for the discussion. See you all over there.
Edit!
After reading the guidelines for this forum I realize I'm not prepared to start our discussion thread. Any facilitator material out there?
