That is heartbreaking.

I rarely reread books, and have never completely reread a HP book (I've read parts of the first two books aloud to my youngest child), but I may just reread this one. I was so eager to see how she ended the series, and I whipped through Deathly Hallows so quickly that I didn't even pick up on this detail.

Two scenes in this book had me reduced to a puddle of tears: Harry and Hermoine's visit to the graves of James and Lily, and Dobby's death. I could barely breathe when I read the part where Harry digs Dobby's grave.

As soon as he demanded Harry look at him, I knew he just wanted his last thoughts to be of Lily.

Verity, I can't make it through the graveyard scene without bawling.

I cried the most when Fred died. I kept imagining George lost without his 2nd half and the grief of Molly as a mother. It still tears me up. Also Harry knowing if he took time to really think about a world without Fred he knew he could not go on.

Goodness, I'm a nerd getting all emotional about a book!

I still miss Fred.

I cried the most when Harry was walking to his death, willingly and bravely. I thought he was definitely dead--no chance of it not happening, and I was overwhelmed. And, when he asked, "Will it hurt?" I just lost it.

Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'll re-watch the movies from time to time, and I get teared up when the twins come on! WHY FRED?!

I totally agree. Fred was the one that got me. I actually put the book down and cursed JK for that one (I've since forgiven her ) Then I sobbed. Dobby was hard, but, frankly, Dobby died doing what Dobby loved the most - helping and protecting Harry.

Fred dying shook me. I said it earlier in this thread I think... I fully expected George to magic off his own ear so that he and Fred could be identical again since they always had such fun confusing people.

Me , 36 year old RN and future AP mom in training . I am wife to one wonderful husband and "mom" to one great rescue pup :.

Right. George is the one who lost his ear. But yes, if Fred had lived he'd have zapped his ear off to match George.

1) Hedwig's death
2) Harry's response to Dobby's death
3) Snape's death (so unfair!)
4) Harry's walk to the forest!

Oh yes, I can't believe I had forgotten my response to Harry's walk to the Forbidden Forest. I hardly drew in my breath. With his loved ones resurrected from the stone, just for the walk. I don't think I'd have been able to let them go and continue on my own.

And then Hagrid, taking him back to the castle. Holding him like he did when his parents were killed. Oh yeah, so sad.

Ok, now you've got me teary-eyed.

Dobby's death hit me so hard because he was childlike in size and in his devotion to Harry.

Me too. When I hit that page I was sitting outside by the pool with dh while the kids swam. I put the book down, burst into tears and went inside. It took awhile to calm down. I was just so shocked. He was such a good hearted soul, so innocent and pure.

That whole sequence killed me to read. I still get upset reading it.

Readable, yes, but with difficulty. It's too wide to fit my screen easily- though honestly I think I'd have trouble reading the text if it was smaller.

Yup. We made it last year. It's not very good. We only made a small amount. Here's the link to last year's party and all the stuff we did: http://sugarboot.blogspot.com/2007/1...anaticism.html

This year I'm adding "Indoor Quidditch" and Golden Snitch decorations. Not sure on the other details yet though.

Some where on the Net there's a recipe for butterbeer that includes butterscotch Schnapps. I'll see if I can find it...

====

http://www.britta.com/hogwarts/recipes.html#butterbeer

1 cup butterscotch schnapps
7 cups cream soda (almost one 2 liter bottle)

====

I see that the recipe, above, is from the same site as your indoor Quidditch game.

Someone moved my effing cheese.
