I read the first half and then had to put it down because it was too heavy for me. And I never picked it up again. Of course this is when it first came out so I was in High School. Maybe now I could handle it. I loved his other one She's Come Undone.

It is kind of heavy, but amazing. I liked She's Come Undone, but it didn't compare, it was almost too light. So, are you up for it with me? We can discuss it together!

Let's do it! It is a bit long, but it sucks you in. I read it in about a week and a half. So when should we start? I have 2 little ones with NO spare time, so I might be a little slow.

I read in maybe a couple years ago and REALLY enjoyed it... I don't have time to re-read it right now, but I'll join in any discussions about it... I remember it quite well

Okay, I have to get it back from my mom. I'm so happy to share it with others, I know that sounds dorky, but it's just so intense, I feel like it really needs a discussion.

Well currently I cant, as all my books are packed away in boxes because we are moving! Perhaps I could check it out at the library.

Oh, I want to join. I read She's Come Undone a few years back. I really like his writing style. I was so sad the book ended because I wanted to read more.

I've got to get out and get this book by the weekend.

This was a fantastic book. I've reread it several times. I adopted some of the lines as a life motto from the end of the book regarding celebrating the roundness of things.

I almost envy those of you starting it all new!

I read it once a few years back and loved it. It's actually one of my top three favorite books of all time. I also like his book, "She's Come Undone."

Yeah, I love Wally Lamb. I'll see if I can find my copy and join y'all. I'll need to read it slow too since I have a few books going at once.

I recently read this book, as a matter of fact, after reading this thread I went to library and got the book and read it.

This is so far my #1 favourite book! It's really intersting and very moving and funny all at the same time. I loved the writing.

Anyone here read it? And how did u like it?

I read this book when it first came out years ago, and it was one of those books that really touched me. I loved diving into it, and it was a great journey to take while reading it. Wally Lamb is an amazing writer. Everyone I know irl who has read it has been upset or disturbed by it or just didn't like it. I would love to talk to other readers who loved it as much as I did/do (I've probably re-read it 4 or 5 times, but I'm more than willing to do it again for the book club!).

I googled it - Looks like it's called The First Hour I Believed, and it's a story about an teacher that was trapped in the library during the Columbine tragedy (it is fiction). Wow, I like Lamb's heavy stuff - but this one sounds really intense. Comes out November 11, 2008.

This is one of my all-time-favourite-books. I think he is an incredible, gifted writer and I would love to re-read this book...again (I've read it about 4 times and have it in both hard and soft cover).

I stopped looking for a new book by Wally Lamb a few years ago, so thank you for the update about the new one FINALLY coming out!

What a coincidence, I just started reading this last week. Can I join? I'm on page 112...and really annoyed with that Ray character...this seems like a book that I'm going to miss once it's done. Anyone else?
