Does a newborn need a mattress pad or a spring mattress? I don't really understand how much padding a baby needs in their crib. From what I understand, a mattress pad is 2" thick where a spring mattress is about 6".
I thought a mattress pad was just what you put on top of the mattress to protect it from accidents, and that it is pretty thin, not 2" thick... but I could be wrong. We have a spring mattress with a mattress pad on top, not necessarily just for comfort, but to make changing the bed easy in case of spit up or diaper accidents.
