We cannot find the manual for our bucket seat (5-22 lbs) and I just want to make sure... Bucket seats typically do not have tethers, correct? I don't remember ours having one but it has been a few years now and I also don't see a spot for one, but I am noticing that although we have it installed really tightly with the latch system, there is a lot of give on the opposite side of the latch. It seems like in an accident, the back/bottom of the base would be able to flip several inches up off the seat. Normal? It is installed at the correct angle. TIA! ETA...it is a Baby Trend Flex Loc

Yes, that is normal.  It's part of how the crash force is absorbed as the seat flips up.

Correct, that is normal, and no, infant seats do not have a tether.

Thank you both.  One other question... If there are latch anchors on the two outside seats but not the middle, but you can "borrow" the outside latches and get a tight and secure latch of the base, is that okay or is "borrowing" latches always not okay?  This is a 2010 Honda Accord if that makes a difference.  I can't find any info specifically for the car.

You cannot "borrow" anchors to make a center LATCH position in any Honda.

Like the pp said, you cannot borrow LATCH. But you can do a seatbelt install in the middle.
