With insert, and perhaps the newborn wedge if needed?
Want to buy one and be done.
Do you have any experience with this?
Yeah, I'd say most larger newborns will fit ok with the insert.
However, it's not a seat I'd recommend, over all. It's too short to keep kids rear facing for as long as is recommended, so it wouldn't be 'buy one and be done'. (I'm assuming you know that eventually no matter what you buy now you'll need a booster seat?)
Would you like recommendations for convertibles that fit newborns and will get kids to a safe forward facing age?
For seats that will fit newborns, get *most* kids to 3-4 rear facing and 5-6 forward facing, I'd look at, Graco My Ride 65, Evenflo Triumph 65, Evenflo Momentum, Maxi Cosi Pria70, Diono R120 and RXT. If you know your kids are lightweights (i.e., unlikely to reach 35 lbs much before the 4th birthday), throw the First Years (aka Lamaze aka Compass) True Fit into the mix :-)
