I was trying to figure out how to turn forward our britax boulevard - it looked like just looping through the lap belt, but then I noticed it said do not use FF without the versa-tether at the top. My car doesn't have any anchors and it's not clear what to do in that case. Does anyone have experience with a convertible seat and no built-in anchors?
I assume you mean the upper tether? You can get your vehicle retrofitted with an upper tether point. Go over to car-seat.org and ask about it, the ladies there know how to do it. You can install it ffing with just the seat belt for the lower part.
Were you able to get the information? A lot of people don't realize they have latch connectors, but they're in every (I think) car from 2001 or later and many before that. We had a 1997 Ford Escort that was very easy to retrofit.
If your car, like mine, is so old that it doesn't come with the tether, then it's still very easy.
Just go to the Parts Desk of the car dealer. Tell them that you want the upper tether so that you can hook your car seat. Have them look up the make, model, and year of your car. Have them show you the picture on their computer screen. Have them order the part.
Then you can either have the mechanic at the dealer install it, or take the part to your own mechanic to install. (My car is 1996, so my car is too old to have come with it already installed.) It's pretty straightforward to install.
'm very fuzzy about this, but I don't think the dealer even charged my husband to install it into his car.
